There has been past speculation and comment on possible location of a future Metro line that would include International City. This prompted me to write an email to the RTA to here what their response was to such claims.
Unfortunately at present nothing on the drawing board for I.C.

Thank you for email query.
There is indeed much publicity and media coverage on the various routes and areas that both the Red and Green Lines will eventually serve. We also received many queries regarding new future lines despite the Dubai Metro still being under construction.
On whether Metro route will serve/pass/or will be close line to the international city, this has not yet been decided as it depends very much on the transportation demands from the public and the business community. We will consider extending the lines to the area if the results of our detail studies indicate a strong justification for us to do so.
We will continue to review our transportation planning needs in particular the rail networks to help serve our community better.
We thank you again for your interest on the development of Dubai Metro.
