Hi,
I believe your budget is decent enough to get you a good villa in a decent area. You need to however elaborate more of what type of area you wish to live in and the types of school etc..
Mirdiff is growing more popular by the day and it has fair decent no. of expat schools, malls etc. The slight downside is that you are near the Airport. However approx. 2 years ago uptown Mirdiff (development) 3 bed villas were sold for 1.5 Million off floor plan and now they are now starting from 3 million in the Secondary market. The size and quality is good.
Springs and Meadows are good developments as well, a bit smaller than Uptown mirdiff but located well near Jumeirah. You need to find out if the traffic issues of getting in and out have been resolved (from the residents).
A word of advice about dealing with agents, be very careful and selective and I would do all your homework before departing with your cash. I constantly hear of horror stories of project delays, poor finishes, problems with sewarage smell due to near by Sewerage plant which they were not informed of, etc...
