Default Moving from US to Portugal

You are moving half way round the world to another country where you don't speak the language, you have no job and you have nowhere to live. You are bringing your family moving away from a place where you are no doubt settled and have friends to somewhere you know nothing about?

Did you try asking locally in LA - there must be a few people there who have moved from Porto recently and will tell you their own 'grass is greener' theories.

My last intention is to sound unfriendly but I would seriously spend at least a few weeks visiting the place before you make up your mind to re locate. Internet research is all very well but you won't get the true feeling for the area. Websites like Welcome to Portugal Property Rentals - the best holiday rentals in Portugal! have properties around Porto and all over Portugal and longer term rentals are easy to find in the local paper.

I hope you are realistic enough to recognize this as heartfelt advice rather than negativity and that you find some peace and love too.
Thanks
Jaime
