Hi - yes their influence comes mainly from Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece and Palestine.

A typical Egyptians staple diet consists of bread ( Aish ) soup, meat, vegetable stew, fava beans and rice.

There are two main types of cheese called gibna beida, similar to feta, and gibna rumy, a sharp, hard, pale yellow cheese.

Desserts are normally drenched in honey. Baklava, Fatir ( stuffed pancakes ) Umm Ali ( raison cake soaked in miik ) and mahallabiyya ( rice pudding )

I personally find the puds too sweet.

And to finish you have Turkish Coffee.

If you find a typical Egyptian cafe that the locals use you can eat very well for £1 or 2.
