We shopped around a bit and found that the best place for your electrical goods appears to be V-Tech, which is in the shopping/eating centre on the left going up the hill, opposite the Italian Restaurant on the way to Sakalla. We got a 21" TV, a DVD player, a vacuum cleaner, a toaster and a White Whale cooker for about 2500LE, delivered in their own van. The TV is a flat-screen (CRT) model and I bought a 21" as the apartments are small and I didn't want to feel overwhelmed but, in retrospect, could have gone at least one size more.
We bought a Satellite decoder for about £50 (probably paid too much) and get, as stated earlier, Nilesat, with its 300 odd programs, about 4 or 5 English language. However, if you trawl around through the channels, it passes the time and can improve your language skills no end. Massalamah.
p.s. Take all your old (especially free from papers) DVD's.

Hi there,
how did the price of the lcd tvs compare to the uk? we have just returned from a week in hurghada but didnt get chance to look at the prices of the electrical items - looked at furniture etc which we found to be very reasonable but ran out of time on the electrical side of things! We have also just put a deposit down on a 2 bed in the british resort - block 4, 3rd floor - so we could be neighbours! I was really impressed with the british resort and cant wait to go back out in april to furnish the place!
