Inspection trip fiasco
I am thinking of purchasing a property in Turkey so I searched the web sites for suitable properties and areas to buy in.
As usual when you give in your details every real estate agent in Turkey seems to get your information and the calls flood in. You lose track of which company you are talking to.
One agent rang and asked me if I would be going on an inspection trip to Turkey. I told him I would like to go at the end of April, but would need to look at lots of towns because we were undecided where to buy. After telling him my nearest airport he said he would find out the price of the flights for me and get back in touch.
Naturally I thought he would ring me back or e-mail me the cost of the tickets. But no,the next day we received an e-mail telling us our flight details, with a photocopy of the receipt for almost 400GBP.
I e-mailed him and told him we would not be going on the inspection trip as we never asked him to book it,he was meant to come back to us with a price we would need to pay if we didnt purchase.( I can get one for 99GBP each with no obligation why would I want one with his company for 400GBP).
He has just sent me an e-mail threatening legal action if I didn't pay for the flights.
We have not give him our credit card details or address.
1) has anybody got any advice.
2) do not be conned like I was.
