My Italian friend paid about $R1000 for a month last Christmas when it was busy, he could have got me one if I hadwanted it, he told me there we loads available, just speak to the Porter "who knew of all the deals going". But, even if the price rises to £500 per month for a serviced flat, how many months of the year would you get that for? 4/6? An annual rent commands a lower price obviously, but gives continuity.
But the original point was wwith flight costs around £900 or more in peak season, where is the logic to spending 2 or 3 times the apartment cost on one flight when you can go all inclusive for a better price? And this is a very important point as many of these properties are sold on "rental returns" and simply there won't be many whilst flight prices remain as they are. Yes there are Brasilians, but they want to rent at lower prices still and know better than Gringos how to get good deals.

As for Rob's comment that some Brasilians spend about £6000 or $Reis 20000 on a vacation..maybe the elite....but certainly not the growing middle classes and certainly not in enough volume to fill all those offplan apartments being built!
