They also promote things like street dogs, protecting the environment, help out at local schools with Xmas bazaars and fetes etc. The same sort of thing as if you were on a community residents committee or school committee in the UK. They also meet up for things like yoga, gym etc and share each others experiances with services such as hairdressers, nail technicians, beauty therapists, schools, babysitters etc.
