The FT says the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors says the average number of transactions per surveyor fell further in August owing to the lack of mortgage finance. August is traditonally weak, but the number has fallen to 13 transaction per surveyor. “There was a rare lift in house price figures, however. The Rics house price balance improved slightly for the fourth consecutive month but still remained at a low level, with 81 per cent more chartered surveyors reporting a fall than a rise in house prices, a decrease from 83.1 per cent in July.” Also, Rightmove says the sharp fall in sales has been putting agents out of business, with over 1,300 offices going out of buisness in the first half.
