Introducing myself - Tim, ethical estate agent in Side
I have just joined this forum and I thought I would introduce myself. I am Tim Millea originally from Huddersfield, England
Agents of overseas properties generally expect a minimum of 10% from the seller.Turkish agents take this, add ten to thirty thousand Pounds to the seller's price and charge the buyer 3% of the total 'agency fee'! I abhor these practices which I have experienced trying to sell my own property and which are not conducive to the long-term health of the Turkish property market.
We get many buyers of off-plan property coming to us trying to sell at a profit before their final payment is due. I realised they come to us because they are not prepared to pay other agents' commission. Too many times they have paid absolute top-prices for off-plan property when, had they come to us, we could have found similar and often better-located properties, already-built, at near half the price, agreed a similar payment plan and kept everyone happy, except the greedy developers and/or intermediaries they chose to do business with. These owners will have to wait many years before their 'investment' is worth what they paid for it. Caveat emptor - buyer beware.
That looks like enough of a rant to get this thread going.
Have a look at our web site for more.
Feel free to quiz me on all things property, especially in and around Side. I have also bought and sold my own properties as well as renovated two old houses, bought land and built apartments on it, set up my own company, employed staff and dealt with every possible aspect of the incredible bureaucracy! In three years of living here I feel like I have been through the mill.
