Default Saudi Arabia, land of the sand

Welcome all,
I just registered, I have been living in Saudi Arabia, Eastern Province for the last 2 years with my husband and 2 Siberian Huskies (!) who adapted amazingly well and are the hit of our camp. So far, it has been OK living here mostly because we do live in a guarded large camp south of Khobar, about 1.5 hours away from Bahrain for some R&R occasionally.
So, if there are questions out there for me, I will try to answer them. I am female, blond, from Vienna, lived in the US a long time. I wear the abaya outside camp, am only allowed to drive on camp, but who would want to drive on those roads anyway, too dangerous. In my former life, I was a trauma nurse, so I have seen my share of horrific road accidents and this country tops them all!
I am the only Austrian down
here, there are a few German ladies up in Dhahran.
OK, enough said, hello to all, this forum is interesting to read, since I am an avid traveler, I always learn something.
Warm Regards
