Tony and Cleusa

My unit is in final stages of construction and I will soon be purchasing the furniture pack. So far so good. I have received updates and pictures of construction so I feel pretty good about management of the project so far.

I have heard though that the airport in Natal may not be completed in time for World Cup. We shall see.

I wonder sometimes how many actual individual owners there are at Bosque. I don't see too many, if any, on this site. I might want to sell my unit at sometime in the future and I would like to sell first to someone who is a current owner and would like to add an additional unit to their holdings.

talk to you later.... Bella

We are particularly interested in the new airport and the potential opportunities this may bring for direct flights from Europe (particularly London).

We are unsure what the rental returns may be, but the concept and location is beautiful and therefore, worst case scenario (assuming it gets built), is that this can act as a holiday home - therefore a direct flight from London to natal would be a dream (and possibly help the international appeal of pipa)

Anyway, greetings from London and look forward to speaking to you all.

Hi, The Pipa Natureza office in Spain advised us that QdR construction is due to begin October 2012. Aspen Woolf advised us that the project is due for completion in the second quarter of 2014, so it could be in time for the world cup.

Who told you 40% of the foundations by August 2012?
Alex

Really!! Where did you get this news? Since they are building the stadium right now, I am interested to know why you think Natal is going to be excluded?

There are unfortunately stories about this on the web...

Fifa highly concerned with World Cup 2014 stadium construction work - Goal.com

"Fifa believes at least five new stadia may not be completely ready without major delays, and there is a real risk that the Natal Stadium in the north east of the country will not be ready for the World Cup at all."

Not sure how much truth in it but I am guessing these type of articles are what Penelopy is referring to. Added to that the fact that other large scale projects - the airport for example - which is also years behind schedule (your own uv10 website promoting property originally had it as 2008...then 2009...10...etc...) its not a big leap of faith to believe that it wont happen in time. You would have thought having the airport in place for the World Cup would have been a major driver...but that wont happen in time either!

Unfortunately it is Brazil and you are talking about the North East of Brazil, so infrastructure projects are always going to be late. I was in South Africa just before the last world cup and exactly the same thing was happening there, so much so that they even had plans drawn up to move the whole thing to Sydney as they had the infrastructure in place already if SA couldn't make up the time.

The reason why the stadium is really late is that the government department responsible for handling the tender for the stadium did a naughty and advertised the request for tender in a tiny little newspaper in a tiny little village in the interior so the only tender they got was from one of the local family companies. Now the positive in this is that a few large contraction firms got wind of this, a few people got charged and thrown into jail and the whole process started again. Now the company building the stadium is actually building it and from what I have seen are doing a pretty good job.

Regarding the airport, I too am frustrated with the delays on the airport, but you must remember the airport was being built to act as an air corridor (mainly for airfreight) between brazil and europe, and things are not going very well for europe at the moment. With that said work on the airport is now moving ahead.

Regards,
Rob.

Hi there,
We have just reserved a 2-bed townhouse in Quinta do Rio. We are an English/Brazilian couple living near Birmingham, UK, it would be nice to chat as you seem to have visited the site and we have not. We do own another property in Brazil that we have been letting for a while and we could perhaps share our experiences. Greetings from a sunny countryside
