Yeah i knoew what you mean with Thomson, when i first flew with them 2 year ago i paid £265, then £320 2nd then £380 a year ago and now ive paid £430 to go in 3weeks. They do play about with their prices daily and now its very hard to get 3weeks out of the flights only, but you can still get them on some odd random weeks long ahead for some reason!
Yes I tried 4 weeks with Thomson and it said return not available, so I opened another window and booked the outbound the week before..and all of a sudden it was! They have the market to themselves at present and will milk it. The 787 will make a difference but allow 2 years. Problem is there is no commercial traffic into Natal unless they can get internal traffic rights...NE Brazil has to be put on the radar and only way to do that is for Developers and Agents to do some proper pr with airlines and media.

Interesting stuff, a distinct absence of NE Brazil, Natal/Fortaleza. Everything still goes to Rio/SP but Salvador is appearing..good news for those developing near Praia do Forte. Somehow one airline needs to make Natal a stop off point but I don't think they want that nor do the Brazilian Govt so it seems. Unless this attitude is changed there will be no boom in the NE. Over to you Agents and Developers, start selling your alleged boom to Airlines and Govt's then you might see an appreciation in prices that you are promising.

I hope there will be other airlines like Virgin getting in on the act. This charter info is great for those that come to holiday with First Choice (Salvador) and Thomsons (Natal) but for others who spend more time here it still remains difficult to get cheap flights to Europe, other than for short stay.

Just to let you all know if it has nit yet hit the news in Europe- BRA one of Brasil's internal airlines has jsut gone bust in a big way leaving passengers stranded. No money to even pay the fuel! All planes are grounded. They have been used a lot for internal connecting flights along with GOL. I understand that Varig are back in business, however only flying to the south with connections to fly back up north!- Journey times up to around 28hrs to get to Recife!

They are still discussing with banks from what I understand but they are in dire straits and all flights from yesterday on with the Airline were cancelled. Although they are giving out mixed signals. They told all their staff to prepare to be laid off (around 1 thousand staff) permanently however they told the media that nothing was final.

Oh and no, don't think it hit the European news yet.

Saw the interview with the vice president of BRA- the staff have not been paid for October. He was asked if the company had any cash to pay them and for fuel etc. his reply was "today-no". It is very difficult to rescue a company that has got so far into debt. look how long it took for Varig to come back. Bet everything is on leases and the planes will not leave the ground under BRA again.

Fortunately BRA only have 10 planes and aren't a major operator like Varig was. So it will probably just mean that GOL, which is doing well, will go and buy more planes.
