Rob,I was comparing prices yesterday as I am travelling in July and compared to other destinations the prices have gone way too high! An ex : Fly Brasil NL economy fare is 7,000 3 tks plus another flight purchase NL -UK,Tap is 7300 reais with 64 kilos(2X32kilos)baggage allowance.Surely this makes TAP cheaper to fly with?? Whilst getting to the US is only 400,00 sterling r/t .Prices need to be reduced to get people too Brasil and to not keep them away.Any suggestions??

I can go direct to Natal from amsterdam for 469€ plus easyjet from UK to ams in June.

Dotty. are you flying return UK to Brasil or Brasil to UK? The former is always the cheaper.

A good suggestion is don't fly during peak season. I would rather pay double the amount to go to Brazil vs. the US as everything as it is a lot cheaper in Brazil plus it is a hell of lot nicer.

So you would pay 2,000 pounds to fly to Brasil ,well I m sure the companies will love you! Most people who come here cannot afford that kind of money 2/3 times a yr ,especially if the whole family are in tow .Only 19% of Brasilians fly ,so that gives you an idea of how difficult it can be and the ones that do generally fly out of Brasil and into the US !

Barbados for the brown stuff Brazil for the white sugar cane variety. I recently bought a bottle of "luxury" Cachaça triple distilled, etc, etc.. at an airport (can't remember which) which was very nice, nothing like the mind altering cheap stuff at all.

Default Open Skies - South America

The president of ANAC announced that for South America, open skies starts this coming september. Next, he said, will be Europe and North America; perhaps less than a year, not date yet though.

I don't know if someone posted it here, but the former CEO of Jetblue lauched a new domestic airline (Azul) that will start operate first quarter of 2009. The airline ordered already 74 Embraer jets (mid size, slightly above 100seats). It should target mid-size cities.

Drinks digression:
- try caipirinha with a few slices of kiwi!
- Talking on rum, my grandmother (she was italian), used to mix "craspa" (sort of rum from grapes) with coffee during the really cold days down in the South. It warms up to your bones. So, if one day it gets really cold out there, you can try... but if never gets around zero in the NE, you can try anyway, for fun or health, my grandmother died when she was 94; should be good. But everyone has a sissy day, so wine is ok too.

I posted regarding Jetblue a while back but there were no dates, was just a "may happen soon".

Good news on the open skies and prospective open skies for Europe.

Oh and G&T > any rum for me, although I must admit I do enjoy Caipirinhas.
