One glaring omission from their new website launched today! Natal or South America!

All those with inside contacts that say Thomson still fly to Natal, please put your hands up.
Good to see you might be right about one thing at last .

The last time I asked the answer was don't know and don't care as the Thomson head office is being moved and staff were being made redundant because of the merger with First Choice.

First choice is still flying to Salvador so you can't write off Brazil yet as far as Thomson/FC is concerned.....

Glad you put your hand up Rob, any other Natal related property claims you'd like to get off your chest?

How's it go?

I think you will find that the new airport is going in to a city called São Gonzalo which is definately in Natal and about 30mins from the beach and the other side of the newly built bridge.

Fortaleza already has a fully functional international airport and has had ever since I can remember.

And maybe if more airlines wanted to go to Natal they would do if they weren't dominated by restrictions on air traffic rights and prices...and then maybe they'd seem to find the check in desks!
Unless your wide bodied flight carry in excess of 2 thousand passengers each, I'll have to call you on that one too... 1.5 million passengers going through Natal can't really compare with two daily flights from Birmingham. Got to do better than that to get a rise out of me. For example, you could have mentioned that Natal airport has 11 check-in counters, not two... But like me, you didn't know that. The difference is I went to the airport this morning and counted them...

Research

I mentioned that the flights were full of Brazilians (as were the flights to Salvador and the flight to Porto Seguro) to emphasise that on off-season, the flight is full with Brazilian people who (according to Dotty) can't afford to pay for the tickets. (See cost of living thread)

So I was wondering if maybe Brazil is importing Brazilian speaking people as extras to go back and forth on the planes as a marketing ploy to convince the tourists on the flights that the economy is booming and domestic tourism is way up.

Anyhow. I referred to the check-in desks as one comparison, passport control are another, toilets another, etc, etc, etc

Sorry but it's now 60 days later and only 2 extra people by the pool... I guess the rest are in Fortaleza...seems to be the ever booming tourism and investors as quoted in the national newspapers this month.

The people that live in Brasil buy a ticket when promotions appear and grap them pretty quickly,so if the flight is full out of season by brasilians you can bet they paid a fraction of the price! They have definately not passed Natal that's for sure.

My apologies, I saw the date wrong from another post I had read. But...I can still say that Fortaleza investment and tourism is excellerating compared to Natal. The increase in Natal was purely due to cheap flights from Thompson directly to that area...which has now stopped. Natal is already over developed relative to its size and has recently had many approval issues causing concern to investers and land owners wishing to build condos etc.
