There are no promotional ticket prices in Brazil for Brazilians. The ticket price is governed by the exchange rate to the US dolar which is making travel much cheaper in general for Brazilians. The real R$ is increasing in strength against all major currencies... so of course they want to travel and Europe offers a no restriction policy on tourist visas up to a max of 180 days per year ..... the same as us going to Brazil. The USA is a different story and complicated for them ...hence the full flights to Europe.

Natal is already over developed relative to its size and has recently had many approval issues causing concern to investers and land owners wishing to build condos etc.
There was only one thomson flight from the UK per week to Natal and I cant remember what type of plane it was but there can't have had more than 300 people on it.

Tui (the owners of thomson) still fly there from other countries anyway. Club Vaciones just started using their own plane again rather than putting people through TAP.

I am not sure about approvals or over development in Natal city or Ponta Negra as we don't sell there, but none of what we sell either north or south has had any problems and I haven't heard of any problems from other people (other than the 2 mega resorts GNG and Lagoa).

Are you an agent? Sorry, I have had the exact same argument put to me by an agent selling dodgy plots of land in Forteleza, so I had to ask.

I just graphed the stats for forteleza airport and both domestic and international travel is down from last year whilst for Natal domestic travel is way up and international down.

I will put the graphs on our website in the next few days when they are cleaned up a bit so everyone can have a look.

Gol do sell tickets cheaply(24 hr sale weekends) and the Brasilians purchase them rather quickly give them a call ,and Tam also sell tickets the same way at good prices .These sales are generally held 2 times a yr.They fill up quickly, hence MrBroad on full aircrafts from Sao Paulo the financial City of Brasil where salaries are far higher than in the N.East.

I am a developer and investor in Cearį and have considered Natal for this reason but after many visits and research I decided on Fortaleza as my base due to its ever increasing tourism plus infrastructure and size of state.
There are many agents in all areas selling dodgy plots as you stated but that certainly has nothing to do with me. I do have condos and villas for sale along with a full project and construction service. My own companies. Crea and Cresi registered with full service and support. I am British and have many active years of experience in Brazil , Northeast. I work purely on recommendation and based on a proven background.

International trafic is the subject here not national flights. Please quote the amounts when you publish the information and not percentages. Fortaleza has, by a long way...many more tourists.

Hi Lagarto - did we just spend a day together in Fortaleza?

Btw although the thread started out discussing only international flights, we then moved on to discuss domestic flights too, hence Rob's discussion.

Oh and Dotty said that they "didn't go to Natal"? I just said I was on a flight from Fortaleza to Natal last week and the flight was full and there were only two "gringos" on the flight so your quip of "They have definately not passed Natal that's for sure." was basically saying I'm lying or blind?

Oh and I'm afraid that's not quite right.

Check the Infraero website. Regarding international flights, Natal has more arrivals per annum of international tourists than Fortaleza, despite Fortaleza being a much larger city and airport. Fortaleza does, however, welcome a vastly higher amount of domestic travellers.

I stand corrected. Fortaleza received 50k more international arrivals than Natal in 2007.

268k vs 219k Jan to Dec 2007

However, again, considering the size of each city and airport, one would expect it to be much higher. Domestic arrivals for example is a huge difference; 3.3 million vs 1.4 million

Having said that, regarding market share Natal is still gaining in 2008.
