Thomsons from Gatwick to Natal is a direct flight route though only from Nov 2007.
Another few decent options ,not immediately apparent ,though quite economic are flights from Madrid,Amsterdam or Lisbon. The latter is via TAP Portugal and they fly to various parts of Brazil 48 times a week.

Default Re: Flights!

Hi wolfgang,

I had a look at some rough prices for flights earlier and TAP seemed to be really expensive and were not direct flights either!

For september alone they were asking from £700 each-per adult which seems far too expensive to me!
I was expecting the flights to be around half the price!

For the same price for 1 flight I could get 2 weeks all inclusive holiday with thomson for £700 aswell!

Cheers for the info WG

Wink Brazil - Here we come!!

Hi DeeDee - welcome back.

My route is a bit convaluted, but cheap. First Choice have a Saturday flight out of Gatwick to Salvador for about £260 return. From Salvador you can catch a cheap internal flight to Natal (or Fortaleza) with Gol airlines. Prices start from £30 each way (although you might have to go indirect) so that´s a return flight for close to £320 - it costs that much to fly to Spain sometimes!

Default RE: Flight news and trends!

Hi all,

Ive managed to find a bit more information of flights and routes planned from different countries to Brazil that are being launched this year!

Emirates has announced plans to launch non-stop services to Brazil from October.

The airline said that the new flight would operate six times a week from Dubai to Sao Paulo through its new Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

Lasting 14 hours and 40 minutes, the service represents the first of its kind to fly between the Middle East and South America.

"We have been looking to expand our operations in the Americas for some time," commented Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates.

He added: "We believe this new direct air link will stimulate more trade and tourism exchange between these two thriving economies, and we are confident our service would prove popular with both business and leisure travellers."

Earlier this month, the carrier announced that it is to begin flights between Dubai and Newcastle from September.

The service will be the first ever scheduled long-haul flight from Newcastle.

This one shows that travelling trends are changing significantly!

The number of holidaymakers flying to distant destinations last summer significantly increased compared with last year, according to new research.

Travel agents registered with the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) saw bookings for locations such as Brazil, Thailand and Sri Lanka soar by 560 per cent, 17 per cent and 19 per cent respectively.

Abta also noted that despite this increase, European hotspots closer to home, such as Spain and Greece, continued to remain popular with Britons.

"Although our traditional Mediterranean favourites continue to dominate the market, our customers are showing an increasing desire to travel to far-flung and exotic destinations," commented Justin Fleming, president of Abta.

Earlier this week, research by climate change charity the Clean Planet Trust found that many British passengers would be willing to pay a voluntary premium of up to £15 to offset carbon emissions on long-haul flights.

Default Flights: Supply And Demand!

Hi all,

Recent article found in the economist about Brazil flights!

Along with the new airport being built in natal as I previously mentioned-
Currently the governemnt in brazil are investing millions£s in airport expansions and re-developments and infrastructure to go with it - all over the country to be able to cope with the vast increase in tourists so hopefull in a few years time the supply side of it shouldnt be too much of an issue!

See ya D

"And Brazilian airlines' biggest problems are beyond their control. Traffic growth has strained airports to breaking point, and disgruntled air-traffic controllers have been disrupting flights off and on for the past six months. The result has been a nightmare of cancelled flights and slumping sales. Gol has proved its racing credentials, but it is not clear whether Brazil's aviation infrastructure can keep up."

More convoluted than you could imagine!
A good tip and emminently workable with a few provisors. For those attempting to go this route, the Gol website requires not only a CPF, but neither will it accept a U.K visa.(only American Express) oh ,and dont bother trying to phone them as their best prices are only accessible via the web and they will quote twice the on line price.
A neat trick to circumvent this altogether is to use the "Argentina" option from the drop down menu.No CPF is required to complete the booking AND you can pay with a uk visa/mastercard.
Just brush up on your Espaniol and i'll see you poolside!

Default Airlines

Hi,

I am Brazilian and recently went to UK and the cheapest flight from SP to London is with TAP or IBERIA.

The flight stop at GUARULHOS (the international airport in São Paulo) and you can take a flight Fortaleza with GOL Airlines. Maybe you are supposed to change CONGONHAS (the national airport in São Paulo) but there are free bus transfer for passangers.

Also, check a travel package including hotel accomodation. In my case, it was cheaper to buy this package to London for 4 nights than pay only for the ticket.

Regards,

Default Re: Virgin Flights!

Hia all,

Just got back from holiday this morning with some news I managed to find out from virgin crew whilst their!

Virgin atlantic did a few chartered flights to brazil end of last year as a trial to see how it went!
The flights were a success and they sold out fast , they are hoping to fly to a couple of brazil destinations in the near future!

Now its just a case of wait and see as all these things take time to arranged and I am confident that they will fly their one day- as Im sure the demand will be there!

See ya D
