I am pleased to hear that GS has accepted your invitation Roy. I really sympathise with their situation. It is most unfortunate that they had not already got all their licences in place. I am sure IDEMA would not have approved the project first, unless environmental issues had been addressed to their satisfaction. Unfortunately we are not party to any of the discussions and negotiations they have been, and are, involved in now It also has to be remembered that the very people attacking the project now probably have a political agenda, and have little or no expertise in the subject. GS are a large experienced construction company and did not produce this project cheaply, they have the best architects and engineers that are available to them. I know their marketing director Carlos(Charles) Garcia and he will no doubt attend that meeting. I wish them luck

Exactly, the Origin is latin, the translation is English. You said "time to quote latin" and then quoted English. So I took a humurous jab at you which all things considering is more than fair game - you take jabs at everyone, especially me whenever you have half a chance.

Considering the amount of time you say you spend in Brazil, get a sense of humour

Back on topic, I just got confirmation from a very well placed source that although this will delay the project a bit, it won't stop it. Wheels are already set in motion and it's a matter of time now. The source has no doubt that it will still go through, albeit with some minor changes.

Hi all,

I still have faith also!!

I dont think GS or brazil government will abandon ship on this project that easily!!

I mean imagine how much money they would loose in the short and long term by refusing planning????

Like I said as long as my apartments ready before the world cup Im happy- patience ia a virtue my friends!!!

A lot of countries around the world have now learnt lessons from the costas scenario and put height restrictions on builds and restrictions on how close you can build infront of the sea!

Some even dont allow building on construction on or near beaches anymore in order to preserve and protect the wildlife and beaches!!
Which is how it should be!!

Take care-D

I found this on google:

Meanwhile, the Brazilian authorities are scrutinizing all licences granted on new developments in a bid to ensure internal environmental policies are met. The first international eco-resort to be put under the microscope is “Grand Golf Natal”. Local newspaper, ‘Tribuna Do Norte’. explains that State prosecutors have requested IDEMA (Institute for Environmental Protection) to declare void the pre-license agreement for the development. Prosecutors became suspicious upon receiving a report from IDEMA, created in just over two months, that neither explains the environmental impact of the resort, nor gives details on water supply to the development, or appropriate ways to treat waste.

Dee, my old boss used to say "Remember one thing...just when you thought that they wouldn't stoop any lower....." They will!

He also used to say...

"The only predictable thing in life is the un predictable"!

My feeling about this development is just that..in fact the whole region!

My associates do not think we would have the information flow nor the visit if there were any problems.

It is a sad fact that the world seems to hate the successful and I can only put the rumours down to the jealousy of the competition. My associates count themselves lucky that for 25 years thet have been associated with top quality projects that have attracted similar comments at various stages and now it seems that GNG can join:-

La Manga Club
Soto Grande
La Cala
St Endreol
Point Royal
Discovery St Lucia
The Landings St Lucia
Campo Real
Quinta do Lago
Meadowood
Aphrodite Hills

In the negative, cat kicking, world we live in all the above were rumoured to be without planning, in financial trouble, new road will not happen, sewage will be major problem and whatever else. Today with the internet it is possible to spread news so much faster than ever but mostly people want to spread only bad news.

My father used to say believe nothing you hear and only half what you read. Problem is to know which half.

It has been a long journey but hopefully the light is in the tunnel for myself personally and our buyers will soon have the comfort they need to go with the fantastic profits we have already made. Once the future phases start marketing our buyers will realise what a crock of gold they really have.

Think positive! I will keep you updated.
Hi, how did the meeting go today?

I was out yesterday with a Brazilian agent, checking out some investment land in Plan Alta, the designated expansion area for Natal. GS came into the conversation, by chance, and he said that the problem GS has is that they would not subscribe to corruption- ie would not pay bribes. He is also of the opinion that the development will happen- the politics behind the scene are to blame for the delays.

Roy,

Would you kindly clarify exactly what you mean by your "association" with the above golf courses or developments. You see I know some of these well. La Manga for instance was a bankrupt project years ago...I actully met the Receiver who was a Scottish guy sat on the porch of the place...Sotogrande is a broad generalisation as it was a massive project, I have played St Endreol many times and the golf course was there first, before they put up a sprinkling of villas next to the old house which became a clubhouse. But te important point is that many of the places you quote were golf courses well before they were property developments and there is no real comparison for some of them compared to GNG in Natal. Pont Royal was also a golf course well before any houses were there..I played it in 98 on the way to the World Cup in Marseille. So please kindly explain exactly what you mean and how the above developments bear any similarity to a massive housing development in Brazil...thanks
