Dotty,
I agrees with some things of what you say, not so much with this statement though. I did all my searches on the ground in R G D Norte and Ceara using a quite a few Brazilian companies a couple of years ago now, and good ones that can speak fluent english is Damn hard to find IMO! I actually found a reputal Brazilian company with a great reputation and still had some troubles later! I now know of a couple more Brazilian Companies in Ceara who are solid in the area and heard good things but I would still be cautious. So I am sure there are some who are very trust worthy, but so many are not so its not so easy as you make out to do it this way
Regards
Paul

Smile research!

You only have to pick up a paper to see what is around. They may be slow at times but they know what they are doing!

You say you live in Rio Grande do Norte (do correct me if I am wrong). Now, of how many developments done by local Brazilians do you know of that is being marketed to international investors. It is very new for Brazilian constructors/developers to consider actively marketing their development in International markets.

Sure, they will sell to a foreigner if he knocks on their door, but they have never in the past put down the money to market their developments abroad.

Now, if that was the attitude in the Brazilian market, how can you blame and critise foreign investors from buying from reputable, non-Brazilian companies?

Do not misunderstand me, I am not saying that Brazilian companies do not want to sell to foreigners, I am just saying that it has not been a priority. That has slowly changed in the past year or so, but more than 60% (I would even say 90%) of developments available to the European public is by International developers or agents.

Smile Newbie

Hi Guys, just joined this forum and noticed this thread. I too have bought a plot in the Zen development and I have my fingers crossed that they will hold some world cup matches nearby in 2014 (hopefully this might be influenced by the DB academy nearby?!).

Anyone any thoughts on the solicitors that ASCL have recommended? I know that they are offering their services cheaper than they normally do but £100 for a CPF no. seems a bit steep.

Thumbs up CPF number

Hi £100 is not too bad if you are doing it from the UK, it cost me £200 last March with a different company than ASCL, but at least it was done right and enabled me to buy where and when I wanted, good luck with your purchase, and if you feel like chatting about Project zen, send me a private mail, and I can put you in touch with other people who have bought there.Regards Graham.

Hello higher state - welcome to our merry little band. We all extremly excited about our eco homes and the lifestyles we'll be enjoying (despite many people's attempts to unerve us!).
What plot have you got? What are you building and when?
I'll add you to the summary on earlier pages.

A CPF cost 6,00 reais not 200 pounds! Tread carefully.

Oh Dotty you're so funny . . . . obviously if we were in Brazil and could file the paperwork ourselves, we wouldnt be considering paying £200 for someone to do it for us!!

Would it not have been easier to have organized it here in Brasil when you made your purchase, because your life will be made a lot easier in regards to how things are done and run in Brasil using your CPF and other necessary documents. The CPF is easy to obtain and not time consuming, but you will not be able to open an account of any sort without some form of residential permit or other and that also includes purchasing property in Brasil. Will you not be coming to Brasil to visit in the near future ?
