Graymax, you will enjoy your home in Brasil ,so do not see this as a do not come or buy in Brasil .It really is just reality and the beer is the best in the world !
Dotty,

I do believe this was talked about in the cost of living thread. You priced out what it cost for you to live per month, which included sending 2 children to a good school, a full time housekeeper, a full time gardener and full medical insurance for a family of four, food, fuel, phone etc.. This came out at something like R$10k per month, which is about £3k per month.

If you think you can lead that sort of lifestyle in England for £3k per month, then you really need to get to the UK more often....

On the basis that you can rent an entire flat in Ponta Negra for about £300 per month in July-Sept who is going to pay 12 times that price for their flights? All inclusive to Salvador Sauipe with First Choice during the same period will probably cost a maximum of £1250 per head and this includes all food and drink. Who in their right mind would therefore rent a property at these prices and so where are all these fantastic "rental returns" coming from?
Oh, and I nearly forgot, there are quite a lot of people who pay that sort of money for a holiday, a lot of them from Brazil as well.

So how come last time you were in Natal you didn't rent a place for £300 pm, you were complaining how expensive accommodation was. Sounds like your usual load of ****.

The flats in the rental pool systems will get more than that per month with all condo fees, IPTU(council tax) and electric and water included, plus they are cleaned for you just like a hotel service. (I have several for sale that last year returned aan average of 1250 R$ per month or more). On the other hand if you are renting for a year, sure it will be possible you can get a house or apartment for around 1000R$ per month. It will not be near the beach or n tourist areas though!!

My Italian friend paid about $R1000 for a month last Christmas when it was busy, he could have got me one if I hadwanted it, he told me there we loads available, just speak to the Porter "who knew of all the deals going". But, even if the price rises to £500 per month for a serviced flat, how many months of the year would you get that for? 4/6? An annual rent commands a lower price obviously, but gives continuity.
But the original point was wwith flight costs around £900 or more in peak season, where is the logic to spending 2 or 3 times the apartment cost on one flight when you can go all inclusive for a better price? And this is a very important point as many of these properties are sold on "rental returns" and simply there won't be many whilst flight prices remain as they are. Yes there are Brasilians, but they want to rent at lower prices still and know better than Gringos how to get good deals.

As for Rob's comment that some Brasilians spend about £6000 or $Reis 20000 on a vacation..maybe the elite....but certainly not the growing middle classes and certainly not in enough volume to fill all those offplan apartments being built!

Rereading my post I see what you mean, the brazilians bit shouldn't have been on the end of that sentence referring to air fares, that was just bad editing, sorry about that.

Other than that as usual you are speaking ****. Why would someone spend 6k to get to Natal on peak season tickets and go wondering around the back streets of PN with family and luggage in tow to find a place to stay? Try working out where they would stay and you could get some very tidy rental returns.

Still I would like to know the specification of this "apartment", but I suspect it will double or triple in size and luxury by the time you post your response.

Brasilians pay about 3,000 reais in high season, but these are houses with about 20 people contributing to the rent and having to sleep in a hammock inside and out. This is common.
