10,000m2 in a hectare = EUR5,000 per hectare

EUR5,000 per hectare = EUR2,023 per acre

EUR2,023 = GBP1,415 per acre.

Have I got a decimal point in the wrong place or does this sound pretty expensive compared to Scottish forests at GBP550 per acre and Latvian forest at GBP320-440 per acre?

OK, so oak is more valuable than softwoods I can imagine and if they are all fully grown and waiting to be cut down, then this would obviously make the forest a lot more valuable than if they are just 'baby trees' (I am sure that there must be some better word for 'baby tree' - but I said I am clueless about anything forestry related!)

Default Forest and plantation purchases in Brazil

Well you hit the nail on the head about being a good investment thats my buisiness and I live and sell tree plantations in Brazil. Natural resources is the future and the price for timber will only go up. Especially certain rare speceis that dont grow just anywhere in the world. When you have 10,000 trees growing everyday you are talking about a serious gain each day. Think about your money is just growing off mother nature. However I would think you be waisting alot of initial investment money investing in a strong currency such as the UK. There is a region in Brazil that can grow toona ciliata a tree commonly know as the australian red cedar it has a plague moth in almost every part of the world exculding a few places and it almost went extict. However there is a place in Brazil above certain altitudes where it thrives without the plague and you would be surpised at the return!

Default price per hactare

That price per Hectare is extremely expensive campared to what you get in Brazil. you can get an an entire Alquire wich is 4.8 hectares between 40-70,000 Reais depending on the density. If you are planing on buying a plantation there is alot you need to hammer out. How much of the land is plantable, how many trees are on each hectare, Is it close to a port for exportation, rainfall, soil quality, fire hazards, theft hazard , who if anyone is or can monitor the pantation etc. There is a plantation for sale in Brazil listed on this site. And there is also a website that can answer alot of FAQS about forestry that I can give you if you need feel free to contact me.
