But Sash ............... Always remember that Dubai with its influence and wealth controls many powerful entities ,such as ,media is controlled and censored here .
If we consider foreign media ,they may not be under UAE 's control but still there's no change brought by them ......... Look at the example of a British article which said that more than 3000 cars are abandoned at the airport but which was rejected as being baseless .

Western media is powerful. I dont believe that its controlled as you pointed out. I have seen some very good news stories about the Dubai market crashes on CBS, Fox and msnbc. If you guys want the government to take any action whatsoever on the scams your facing, approach the right channels. Dubai is all about image and branding. A brand manager would put some effort to save its brand. Currently everyone is trying to run away from their frauds by escaping behind the "recession blanket".

Hi Hussein - the article in Khaleej Times feb 3rd under the UAE REALTY SECTION - 'Special Report' - the article title is "Propery Prices Under Pressure : Analysts by Rocel Felix... Within the artilce are two box tables - which list the projects cancelled or 'on hold' (which have been posted on this forum.) When i went to Khaleej Times online, i was able to see the aforementioned article but NOT the tables that were attached in the article. I saw the response from the Damac CRM - unless he has not been made unaware - he should contact the Khaleej Times and have them print a correction. I am sure the Khaleej Times got this info from a Dubai govt source - (how else would they get access to this kind of list, especially making representations about Nahkeel, Emaar, Deyaar etc - critical info if you are listed company! ) The Editor would have insisted on a 'fact-check' before letting that go into a full page feature... ? I live by the Burjside project and seen construction going on, but as to whether or not it's on hold - I cant say. (the table states the Burjside is 'on hold') that's the story,,,

It may seem that this is the case but if the government would release such information I think it would inform all majour news companies. Such information is very valuable to investors and such.

A PM coming your way from me.

Why some papers carry storeis and the others not? All depends on the editor By far, i think the National is the most independant with their coverage. If someone in the govt wanted it leaked - it would be read less in the Khlaeej TImes than the Gulf news.. The gulf news seems to be 'light' when it comes to covering less than stellar news.. Look at the way the covered the Al Barakah story or rather NOT.. With a story like that, ALL the major newspapers would be on it - instead, only the National in abu dhabi - it's an editorial call. Seems like they don't want to shed any light on issues that may be controvertial when it comes to real estate.. Which doesn't make that much sense since it comes out anyway and leaves the impression that it's being swept under the carpet - magic or otherwise...

contact the writer - and talk to her - she'll be forthcoming

Yes the authorities chose to sweep it under the carpet , for they have too many frauds and scams to deal with , and they chosen to muffle all media reports , to paint a very rosy picture for new investors .
Albarakah stolen amount has reached a staggering 1.4 billion Dirham , the authorities in Dubai chose the stance " no see, no hear , no speak"
yet in Abu Dhabi they went after 3 fraud schemes without , one investor reporting any , they heard talks in coffee shops , seen conversations on blogs on the INTERNET and followed the leads , traced the people behind the scams and arrested them , the authority in Abu Dhabi stated " that just because no one came forward to report these frauds , that does not mean that a crime was not committed" , this is what i call justice . Yet in Dubai we have been screaming from the top of our heads and of no avail , I wonder what will it take for them to move ? Albarakah developer is a foreign one and the authority balme us that we have dealt with him for he has no loyalty to the country , The problem now we have huge number of local developers that have also gone into hiding ! and their investors have no clue yet. God help us we have not seen the beginning of it yet . Yet no independent newspaper in Dubai is reporting anything , they are all afraid . The national has been the most reliable source for they check the information reported to them and sources then report them .This is what I call professional journalism .
The government in Dubai have warned all newspapers of writing anything to discredit the property market and imposed huge penalties on them .
