Welcome to the forum Elspeth; it is refreshing to get unbiased comment from someone already living and working in Hurghada

My comments are unbiased my main job in Hurghada has been promoting local advertising of holidays through a website, protecting the reefs from destruction and educating the locals. Yes, now I work for a developer but I have many friends here who also run estate agencies and I do not promote them either. If my opinion is asked then I will give it. Believe me the commission is not enough to make me spend my time advertising here.

Hi all, I think this will be good for Egypt as long as the wealth created is distributed around a bit. I think the labourers and general workers from what ive seen are paid poorly.

True sometimes I wonder why I have purchased here as I get all inclusive deals sometimes cheaper than just the flight, but surely this must change.

I agree the flight prices from the UK are expensive but there is a wider European market where the flight prices are a fraction of the cost which people who wish to rent to can tap into.
We have 2 properties here in Hurghada one which will live in and the other we will rent out.....but there are lots of options we could rent to a foreigner who works here long term rather than depend on the holiday market.
I know this is'nt an option for those who wish to use the property themselves and rent it out to help recover the costs.
All i can add is that property here is going up all the time and even if they dont rent the resale value will earn most people great rewards.
