Dear Zeiad,

my company bought few apartments in Hurghada and some of them are nearly finished (Suleder). When development is done I wonder what are next steps regarding paper work. Probably registration in land register and so. What kind of papers do I need for that? What I have to be attentive to when taking over apartments from developer? Also I read somewhere that it you want to rent apartment you have to be official owner (entry in land register) but if you enter yourself to register you can't sell apartment for 5 years?! Is there some source of information where there's described step by step whole process?

Best regards and thanks for all your effort you are putting to this forum!

The reason i say they can't own the land is because how can someone on the 4th floor of a block of apartments own the land that it is sat on, the 3 floors underneath would also own the land??? You cannot have a freehold apartment unless it was the only property sat on the land.

just to clear it to you, you own a percentage lets say the building have 36 flats with different sizes so they divide it to percentages to the 36 flats according to the flat size as well

Default law regarding foreigners owning land in sinai

I have merged these 2 threads together

Hi Veronica - I was just wondering if you managed to sell your land or did you decide to keep it?

Have you bought anywhere else in Egypt?

Regards

Alison
