Default Hurghada Power of Attourney?

I have had an opperation and need someone to act for me in Hurghada. Has anyone done this from England. I know the Power of Attorney must be legalized by UK- Foreign Office first, then from the Egyptian Consulate.
What I want to know is what type of Power of attourney do I need. There are so many. Can I get away with a general power of attourney (A single form) and get a solicitor to witness it?

Hi

Sorry no replies so far from members, that's probaly because you already seem to know the process.

What exactly do you need it for.

My experience is that a general one is most liklely to be accepted in Hurghada (no idea about other areas - they all have their own ideas). I've tried to make some "restricted ones" and they get rejected in the Reg Office, most annoying after all tha queuing. It may be possible to get something through the Egyptian embassy that is specific to what you need. The actual wording seems to be very important.
A general POA often will include stuff that you would prefer not to include unless you TOTALLY trust whomever is being given the power.

Hi There , You could use a lawyer who operates in Hurghada opposite the OLD VIC HOTEL . They call him Ashraf Aglan (Lawyer) we have used him for the past 15 months for various aspects of the villa that was purchased and he operates under a power of attorney to deal with matters when we are not in Egypt and its quite straight forward to arrange !!!! Hope this may help you and good luck ,,,

Question Not sure this is helpful

The problem seems to be doing something from the UK without going to Hurghada - your reply seems to require that someone is in Hurghada to start the process therefore does not seem to be any real help !!!

It may be worth contacting Hamdy el Sawy who is an Egyptian Lawyer based in London; his Email is: elsawylawyer@btinternet.com Tel: 0207 580 3206 Mobile: 07711 746100. I can vouch for him as he is a friend of my family (we are Egyptians living in the UK).

As long as you have bought from a reputable company it should be fine! Just get your lawyer to check the contract and if its a new development ask for a copy of the due diligence report.
