Many private beaches will let "outsiders" use the beach for a small fee.

Cool Use of Private / Hotel Beaches

Good question - often answered with little real knowledge I suspect.

It is generally understood that many hotels will allow this but many decide "on the day" and it cannot be relied on. The "fee" varies considerably - some hotels may charge as little as £2 per person per day and you access to the hotel and beach - good deal - but not many at this price - others charge more like the £5 per person per day which is still a good deal compared to Spain for example - often the hotels will not allow this to happen on busy days (no surprise really) - some hotels will offer only an expensive package inclusive of a good lunch and charge maybe £15 per person, this attracts a different kind of "customer" and is good business for the hotel at lunch time.

Some apartments even make false claims that they have an "arrangement" with a hotel to use their facilities for free, others like me have arrangements for a reduced fee use of a hotel, but even this is not likely to be certain in the long term if the hotel is full.

Public beaches also have to be paid for in some areas, some are good like the one at Arabia Beach, others no so good for facilities etc.

Depending on what you need from a beach you can pay for a TRIP out to one of the fantastic island beaches which includes lunch and diving etc for between £15 & £20, compares well to hotels with lunch, but not something for a big family every day.

One of the best hotel beaches is at the Magwish Village Hotel to the south of Hurghada.

Beaches in Spain are ALL public but if you are not a hotel resident and use the sunbeds, umbrellas etc then you will pay. You can use any beach free. They belong to the Spanish people and cannot be privately owned.

Egypt is not Spain and hotels and private residential blocks frequently own the beaches in front of their complex. Of course some hotels may charge or have private arrangements but you should never assume that you can go anywhere at will.

The price in Egypt for hotel beaches includes sunbeds etc, which is where the comparison becomes fair since no public in Spain that I know of gives you FREE sunbeds - sorry this was not clearer in my notes.

Hi

What experience do you have of Egypt. I have only been to Cairo and Hurghada so cannot make any comments outside of that. As far as I know the point of having "private" and "public" beaches s that everyone can use the publis beach, as long as they pay, but the hotel can CHOOSE who they wish to use theirs, and how much to charge.

I'm sure that this is correct; a number of Developers have done deals with some hotel operators. It's up to the hotel owner to let in who he wants and to set the price.

Yes guys you are right the beaches are private and it is upto the hotel as to whom they allow onto their beach. Suppose that answers my earlier question.
