Default Pyramisa Sahl Hasheesh

We are looking for somewhere to stay when we go out for an inspection visit in January and I have been looking on Tripadvisor at the Pyramisa, Sahl Hasheesh. I was totally shocked at the majority of reviews saying that the service, food and facilities are very poor added to this it is full of very rude Russians. This is very concerning since I am looking to purchase an apartment on Red Sea Pearl which is linked to the Pyramisa! Is there anyone on this forum who has had personal experiences of this hotel or can provide any up to date information.

This doesn't surprise me; this hotel is going through it's 'soft opening' phase whilst they are waiting for other facilities in Sahl Hasheesh to be completed and provide variety for their guests. In this phase even five star hotels do amazing cheap deals with tour operators to give their staff experience of working with the guests. This means they often get people who can't afford too much money and are prepared to accept things as they are.

You would be better using the Intercontinental in Hurghada as, apart from the hotel, there is nothing to do in Sahl yet.

I agree with peter.

Sahl Hasheesh is going to be amazing!!! this will just be teething problems there are also more plots closer to the amenities available for sale that are beach front as Red Sea Pearl is towards the top end of Sahl Hasheesh.

You can look at it from 4 Front Property Investment

So far we have been very happy with the choice we have made in purchasing on Red Sea Pearl, the development looks to be high spec and in the type of location we want. We would be buying as an investment and as a holiday home and we saw it as ideal especially being linked to a 5 star hotel, as this gives people choice. I must say I am certainly having second thoughts after reading the reviews of the Pyramisa, am I investing a large sum of money in an area and linked to a hotel which is not going to be desirable?

Like Peter says, I'm sure the Pyramisa will turn out to be fine eventually. We popped in when we visited a few months ago and the actual reception area is lovely, with fabulous views over the lovely pools to the beach. Being in the middle of a building site is obviously not helping matters, but I guess thats why they are offering very reasonable prices. Many places have teething problems, but the chain is a well known name so I'm sure these will be sorted in due course. Also it is in a fabulous locaton, right by the sunken city and I guess those investing in Sunset Pearl and Red Sea Pearl will have access to the beach, which will be an added bonus for them. Looking at the postings on Trip Advisor, most of them are fairly recent that are really poor. When I was out first week in November, Rolf was saying that there were no hotel beds to be found close to Hurghada at all - everywhere fully booked! The nearest availability was Safaga, a fair way down the coast, so guess Pyramisa was full and maybe not able to cope. When we visited in July it was all very calm in the reception area and we were even given a free drink!! Still on a positive note, lack of beds in the area is certainly good news for all us investors I think!!

Thanks for all your responses I feel a bit better about things now, I suppose judgement must be made once we have visited in January.
I have already paid 10% reservation fee with 30% payable with signed contracts at the end of January, once we have visited. The 10% is fully refundable if we do not like what we see, I must admit after reading the Tripadvisor reviews I nearly rang up for my 10% deposit back.

You will absolutely love Sahl Hasheesh and as only one phase is partially open and there is so much more to come it can only get better. You are not buying in to the Pyramisa so judge your apartment on what you see when you get there.

Thanks Peter, Like I said we will have to judge for ourselves when we visit in January. The biggest problem for me is that I have already laid out 10% before seeing exactly where the apartment is or even visiting Hurghada/Sahl Haheesh, been to Sharm on several occassions so we know what the Red Sea has to offer but are new to the Hurghada area. When you see such adverse comments it makes you wonder if you are doing the right thing, but everyones comments on this forum have put me back on track.

Just to confirm what others have been saying. We were told when we were out there that it is common practice for newly opened hotels (before they have established themselves) to offer really cheap deals mainly to Eastern Europeans. This will not be the case later when Sahl Hasheesh is open. I actually visited Pyramisa for the day and agree that this was off putting as it was full to the brim with very loud music and Eastern Europeans. No disrespect to them, of course, but I think the way they like to holiday is different from most British holidaymakers. But, just wait till the prices rise because Sahl is starting to be established, then the clientele will change. We have already noticed the prices starting to creep up. Remember Sahl is a longer term investment = it still needs a bit of time!

If you read the Tripadvisor reviews for the Pyramisa in Sharm it does'nt read any better, it seems to me the owners need to get their act together. The contract I have says that we will have full use of the Pyramisa facilities and at an extra daily charge we can have all inclusive eating and drinking. Personally I would have no wish to use the all inclusive facilities and would have little need for the other hotel facilities, but for rental it may appeal to many people to have the choice of these facilities on offer. Obviously the negative reviews on Tripadvisor for the Pyramisa hotels is not good, it would have been nice to offer a top class hotel linked to your apartment.
Has anyone any idea of how far the Red Sea Pearl Development is from the Pyramisa?
