Default Trip report

Hi all

Well arrived safe and sound and stayed at Shams Suite which is at the far end of Nabq next door but one to Jaz. Too far to walk to Sierra in the sun so I just flagged down the minibuses and got on them on my own. I just paid 1 le from one end to the other. Ventured into Naama as well and only paid 2le. Very nearly flagged one down to take me to the airport for 2le but my lift turned up.

The Metro supermarket is very well stocked. The electrical shop next door also sells kettles, irons, tea coffee sugar canisters, kitchen utensils, ironing boards ( £6.50 ) etc.

Sierra has really come along since our visit a few weeks ago and I was amazed at the amount of progress that had been made in such a short time. There is a security guard sitting at the entrance to the site. The road leading up to the 1st phase looks really good. It is all lit up at night and looks lovely espec with the lights around the plants and the pool.

The 1st phase would have paid their maintenance and they are getting what they have paid eg lighting, security, gardens tendered, rubbish emptied ( there are now wheelie bins on site which we will be supplied with ) there were a couple more security staff walking around. I also saw the pool being cleaned on more than one of my visits.

I had my handover late Sunday afternoon and Tarek the agent was on site. I checked over my apartment and all in all was very pleased. The workers did clean the basin for me and sweep and mop through but it will need a thorough post construction clean that I hope Mostafa will do for me. My railings had been painted green. There is some work still to be done on the entrance to the block and stair ways. I was very pleased with the finishing. The walls were very very smooth, the front door is a very good quality UK imported fire one that has 3 locks that go into the frame. The front door has a large knob on the outside. The window in the living room is sliding and this easily locks as well as the patio doors so no extra window locks are required. There is a lock on the bedroom doors. There are two internet points in the 1 bedroom apartments - 1 in bedroom and 1 in the living area. There is also a phone socket in the living room. We will be supplied with phones. I was fortunate to meet Tarek the developer as well and he is a lovely gent and it was a pleasure to meet him. He took me to the control room which is just behind my zone and showed me them all along with the wireless routers. This is where you come to see the engineer to charge your elec key up. All sorts of fancy electrical things were in here for sat tv etc. There will be 58 channels on our Sat TV.
I paid my maintenance fee ( residents assoc still in process of being sorted ) and paid £230 for the meters, 650le that went on the elec card and 1000 for the water ( you dont get a card with the water ) All in all it was just short of £1900. I was handed my keys and given 5 front door ones and 1 for the bedroom. They come with a credit type card that has a regristration number on it. Extra keys cannot be cut without this special card which I thought was a fab idea.

Tarek the developer also took me to where the water is stored which is under the large concrete slab - behind the 1st phase pool. It all looked quite technical and backups are in place for any failures. The basins, baths, loos etc are of very good quality and from a company from Germany but based in Cairo - from memory.

I asked Tarek about the sun loungers and he said yes he will be supplying some for around all the pools. He and his wife had been looking at some and it was a toss up between the white plastic ones or the wooden ones and he thinks they will probably go for the wooden ones which I said would be better and also look nice. I think they would be harder wearing as the plastic ones tend to crack. On the area where the water is stored Tarek said he is looking to put maybe loungers or tables and chairs with some pergolas and maybe a bar where we can buy drinks and maybe snacks and I thought this would be fab. This presumably would be for residents use only and would be a great meeting point for a couple of cold beers.

The whole development looks sooooo much bigger in the flesh than what it does in the pics. The roads in between the zones are being built along with a roundabout. When we 1st looked at our zone it was brick only and I was worried about the light etc. The zones look lovely and bright now the buildings are more or less finished and the zones look so much bigger. I went on site 4 different days and times and around our zone there was sun more or less all day around the pool. Our garden was fortunate enough to have some shade in the afternoon.

There were loads of workers on site working all over. They were also working on the restaurant and the hotel as well. It really has to be seen. I am still trying to upload the vids so please be patient.

I took 3 of my friends to show them around yesterday morning and we all sat by the pool dangling our legs in and it was lovely - so lovely in fact that I thought s@d it ( it was over 112 degrees ) I am an owner and key holder now so I stripped down to my bikini and had a swim! The pool here is a good size and the depth is the same all the way around. There are 3 powerful jets that give you a nice back massage.

I met the site engineer as well and told him what a great job him and the workers have done and how pleased I was with our apartment. Roll on October when we can start to enjoy our little ' Place in the Sun '

My heartfelt thanks go out to Tarek the developer, Tarek and his team at SRE especially Mohamed Ismail Al, who was a star - he picked me up and took me on site and he gave me all the time in the world ( 4 hours videoing 14 apartments!! ) and was very patient and did not rush me at all and all the staff working extremely hard on site to make all our dreams come true.

Meant to have said that all the private gardens have irrigation installed and as part of the maintenance will also be mowed so we dont have to worry about the grass or plants dying or grass over growing.

Hi all Mostafa is having to increase his prices due to rising costs in Egypt with effect from August. If you were thinking of ordering the package I would recommend doing it now.

From memory and without looking back at the vids the ones nearly ready are Amani, Keith and Tony. Will check the others.

I was speaking to Peter from St Georges and he said we have a little goldmine. He has just sold one for a buyer on Sierra as a re sale for just over £47,000 for a 1 bedroom!! He is anyone that has bought on Sierra is laughin and quids in and one of the best.
