Hi - was really good last night and cut out the cocktails and just had a couple of scotches. Must say though that the scotch was more of a vodka colour and wasnt very strong and I suspected they had watered down the drinks. Went to Abou El Sid the Egyptian restaurant above Hard Rock and defo worth a visit for decor and something traditional.

Funnily enough Iain and I were talking about how they seem to do everything back to front but it seems to work! Iain had a look at one of the baths and it had a plastic layer on to protect it. Yes at stages mine did look like that and was a shell full of wood for ages.

Cockroaches and flies are driving me mad so need to get something for them.

Darren had said that so far the cheapest pharmacy seems to be the one at Al Khan 8le for Antinal and hydration tabs.

Darren of course you are all invited - open house to all. It would be great if as many of us could come and meet up and basically have a ball to celebrate our new homes in the sun and put a face to a name. We can all look at dates together but around 12th June ish. Easyjet bring their dates out for June in Jan so will keep an eye on their prices and maybe worth pencilling in a couple of weks in the works calendar.

Sounds like a master plan. we hope to furnish ours early next year with our first visit being april for a week to check out all the furniture. June would then perfect timing for a holiday. Although judging by the sound of you pi** heads I think we will have the party by Alison's pool (rather than ours) so that if we want to go to bed you lot dont keep us awake

God im 33 and sounding like 73!!!!!!!!

ha ha ha I just cant take the pace. I am a complete binge drinker (give booze britain the name it has!!!) but then I cant drink again for weeks and weeks, so I will be the life and soul of the party (but only if it only lasts a day!!!)

Right its actually sunny for once in England (alison you missed the only good day of August!!!!). so I am going outside to lay in my garden, shut my eyes and pretend I am with you lucky lot!!

Lou

Hi Lou we will make sure you keep up so dont worry about that lol!!

I got the bus down to Old Market this afternoon for 3le ( yes I like a bargain! ) and bought an ironing board, airer and iron from 7/11 Supermarket. They have loads of electricals up stairs such as wash machines, fridge freezers, micros, kettles, tv's. All reasonable prices - cheapest fridge freezer was about £140 and there was a really nice yellow one for about £180. Large TV was about £200, iron £8, airer and ironing board £9 each. Also had lots of pots and pans etc as well as ovens. Bits and bobs were cheaper than Metro. Got cockroach spray that spray around all the edges of the room and apparently lasts for weeks. I will see if there are any of the blighters when I come back in tonight. Also got fly spray. The cockroach also does the ants as well. For any ladies or girls that use stick on nails they have them all designs for just 3 and 5le a pack ( 30 and 50p ) with glue!!! Ciggies are same price as Metro.

Had to get a taxi back and by this time I couldnt be bothered with haggling the price he said 70le and I was happy with that. It was the best £7 I have ever spent I think. Had a right laugh with the driver - told him not to drive fast and he didnt. He was telling me about his 2 wives and the 1st one no good now as she is 150kg and he cant get his arms round her and he akes her sleep in the little room on her own!! He had an English lesson from me on the art of driving hand signals and how to use them and shout up yours etc. It was very very funny as he was shouting out the window at everyone up yours up yours sticking out his little finger lol kept correcting him and got there in the end. Told him not to do it to very very big English man tho lol. Very very entertaining. He bought all the shopping to my door for me and again a little tip went a long way.

Took a vid last night with all the lights around pool etc and looks quite pretty so will upload when I get home.

Noticed today a big sign next to Starbucks in Nabq saying TGI Fridays coming soon. Sat TV went off again today saying no signal - gave matey a shout who was outside and 2 secs later all sorted. I must say any minor probs I am coming across are being rectified straight away.

Met a lady around the pool earlier who is from Belgium and has bought top floor of number 6 and she is the one that has the gate on to the roof terrace. She bought it from where BTEC in Hadaba is - cant remember the name but something like Kia and she said it was downstairs. She also bought a gazebo with the same wrought iron design as the gate around it but she thinks that the developer will make her take it down as it is more a permanent feature as opposed to a table and parasol that can be taken down when not in use. I think for now he is letting her keep it up. She has said that it is just much toooooo hot to sit up on the roof terrace even under the gazebo.

Went back to Churchills and had nice home cooked ham ( from Marsdens ) egg and chips. Tony the chap that owns it is really lovely. He also shows all the matches and the Arsenal game is on at 6.30 tonight - no I dont support them!! Im sure you can get a beer here in the eves and certainly better than St Georges as he has air con and also good atmosphere. His son Aaron is lovely as well and both times I have gone I have received a lovely welcome and chatted to them. Im gonna go back tonight and see what its like in the eves as they are open til 11/12 o clock.

I have been sleeping like a log and the bed is really comfy as well as the pillows - as Goldilocks said just right lol. It has been sooo hot espec at Old Market and I was so glad to get back to Nabq where there is a little breeze and I could breathe again. Naama was also stifling last night and found the fumes getting down my throat.

All the workers on site are a happy bunch and always saying hello. I feel very very safe here on my own. Even walking back at night. There is a security guard permanently sat around my phase. One of my Egyptian friends came to see me the other eve and the security on the gate asked for his ID which they took but he had no problems coming to visit me and got his ID back on leaving.

The security helped me with my bags - which they dont have to do - back to the apartment so I gave him a small tip which he was extremely grateful for. At the end of your stay instead of throwing anything away Im sure they will be grateful for anything - pair of shorts, jeans, t shirt etc. I think this helps build up the rapport with them and once they get to know you they are very helpful.

Speak soon xxxx

Hi Alison, just wondered, it doesnt look from the photos that they have started digging our pool yet (30C1). It just seems a bit weird cause they seem to have built all the others as they go along (with the pool being ready before the buildings). Can you get any idea from the workers when they will start the pool? Or alternatively, can you PM me the email of the developer and I will ask them.

Cheers ma dear

Firstly, we would like to say thanks for taking and posting the pics Iain and Alison. We have had more info from yours and others trips than we have had from Sharm Real Estate or from the developers themselves. They keep answering us with old pictures of nearly every building except ours, we can now see from your wonderfull efforts that they have at least made some effort on our building, but still not nearing completion yet. I think they have moved August back to after December this year .

As for the pool in our area, Samui13, they install a rather large water holding tank in our general area prior to mains water being available to supply the building needs and I guess they will have to fill that in and make good before they can start on the pool itself, seems our group is at the back of the queue at the moment, and they are making headway on the new groups at the back of the resort. We are now quite used to the promises and delays and are not holding our breath waiting for completion.

Also we are now on our seven day countdown to a fortnight in Sharm and if we can help anyone with info and/or pics whilst we are there then let us know and we will do our best.

Jeff n Tracey.

Hi Jeff your welcome. Lou will try and find out for you.

On a really high positive I have met the new General Manager of Sierra. He came to my apartment today and is a lovely chappie. His name is Ahmed Alaa and seems to be on the ball.

He has told me of some projects that they have which will benefit us all greatly I personally think. He will join the forum and he can post all the details so Im sure you will all give him a warm welcome. He will try to log on each day to read posts and answer questions if he can.

Met Mr and Mrs Snow - they have done a testimonial on SRE and they have invited me round for drinks at 6pm which is lovely of them both.

The Chinese at Jasmine has now closed.

I have been chatting to an Egyptian lady from Alex and playing with her 2 lovely chilldren in the pool. She is renting 4C2 and her husband is the manager of Nathans Famous Hotdogs next to SRE in Nabq. I havent been there as cant stand hotdogs but she said they sell other food as well such as burgers - she said they are really nice - and pizzas etc so might give it a go.
Iain came round yesterday and today and missed him twice!! Zeaid is taking me to the Mangrove National Protecorate on Tues and reall looking forward to that xx

Also dont know if I mentioned this you can hear the music fro Jasmine / Arabsat at night - you will hear it in the vid I will post - but its not too bad and once I was in the apartment I didnt hear a thing. Slept like a log again last night - bed very comfy so is sofa. Fridge seal isnt working properly as the freezer part has about 3 inches of ice on it all ready so I told Mostafa its no good and he is going to change it for a different model. It needs to be slimmer as well as cant open the freezer drawer fully or pull out the drip tray that is getting full of water. Apart from that no probs with furniture.
