Hi Iain,

Just to let you know that Eid al Fitre, which come at the end of Ramadan is a big occasion in the Islamic calendar - on a par with, but not related in anyway to, Christmas. I am suprised that they're stopping work so early as there are still 7 or 8 days left of Ramadan and Eid is usually only celebrated over 3 days!
Oh well. I hope that they all come back refreshed and raring to get your apartment finished!!

Best wishes
Linda

Hi all,

Got back from Sharm last Thursday, what an eventful trip it was to! Had a great time trying to sort out the crap installation of kitchen units in my apartment by the developer and a flight home! Thankyou XL! Due to this im now £600 out of pocket!

On a brighter note the developer has agreed to install new better quality kitchen units, a new table and 4 chairs at an extra cost of £250! Has anyone gone with the SRE package and if so what did you think? I am now regretting the decison to have gone with the developers package, I did go and see mostafa at idea4furniture but he wanted £800 to change just the kitchen units although his finish on photos looks alot better. Anyway Im due to go back out in dec to see the improvements! Wish me luck!

If anyone wants any photos taking just let me know as this time I shall be staying near the resort so I can try and get things sorted out!

James

HI all,

I just found out my aparment might not be finished for my arival next for Tuesday due to mix up with the number of my apartment(the wrong one was finished). Due to Ramadan starting on the 25th they will have one day only to do all the work.

Is anyone ready to rent out their apartment out yet? I need to secure a plan B as it will not be fun arriving at 9 pm and have no place to sleep.

I have also been trying desperately to contact Zeiad, can anyone let me have his tel. number or skype or e-mail in case I have a wrong one.

Hi Kamila - if you go onto Zeiads legal thread his contact details are there. If you have no luck try sending him a personal message from here as it will go straight to his email.

Our apartment is free from now up until we arrive early eve on 7th October.

Hi Linda

I think, to be fair, that they have a longer break as most workers have to travel home to Cairo, Alex etc. As you know most workers come and work in Sharm away from their families for fairly long periods travelling home when they can.

It was aslo explained to me that in Sharm most work a seven day week with a short break on Fridays for visits to the Mosque - certainly doen't always look that way!

Yes I live in hope,,

Iain

HI Alison,

Thank you so much, I found Zeiad's details. Just got e-mail from Mostafa with the promise he will do averything he can do get the place done and will keep me posted daily.

However, we will know in the next two days if we need to make an alternative arrangments. It is very kind of you to offer the let of you appartment and I will come back to you on it.

You are wright Ian all the workers do not get much time off and work in very extreme conditions without their families. As annoying as it seems to us their breaks are so infrequent they deserve that time off.

Thumbs up Some good news for us "Sharmers"

Hi

This article is worth a read - what caught my eye was that they reckon Sharm prices were rising at three times the rate in hurghada it is a property news service so I guess they are likely to be optimistic - but it cheered me up at a time of financial turmoil.

http://www.propertywire.com/news/com...809191667.html

Sorry you'll have to copy the link above to your browser

"With foreign nationals now having the option to buy in Egypt, property prices have been rising consistently in the Sahl Hasheesh and Sharm El Sheikh area, and at present are almost three times greater than Hurghada. "

Hi Alison

I havnt booked it yet but im thinkin of going out the 2nd week of december i think returning on the 14th dec. I have been looking at the flights with easy jet and for the first two weeks they are cheap and then as you get closer to xams they increase in price. If i come out after the 16th I will let you know and we could meet up for a drink, I didnt get to meet any neighbours when I was out there apart from Mohamed one of the SRE agents who is renting out an apartment.

I had a good time weather was really hot went quad biking with an egypt guy out of my hotel which was fun, never been quad biking before!

Did the couple you met, where they going to have the kitchen replaced by the developer? I have paid £275 for it to be replaced with a better one, but as of yet not heard anything from Ahmed Alaa I have sent him and SRE a request in writing as to what I want doing. Its all rather worrying and makes me wonder I will prob arrive there in dec and the work hasnt been done, I understand though according to my contract if no handover takes place then as from jan Im entitiled to £100 a month from the developer.

Also do you know anywhere I can get a cheap nice looking cooker hood from?

James
