Hi Lou and Stu

The Maldives. Wow. We have been touring Egypt for over 10 years now and yes, travelled round Europe and keep thinking we must see India, Boston , China etc but still haven't been able to pull ourselves away. If anyone fancies an Egypt cruise other than the Nile/Red Sea, we highly recommend the tour of Lake Nasser. Much more off the beaten tourist trail and the ancient history is not just the mighty Ramses and King Tutt.

Totally agree with the pool issue, the maintenance fee is also for security, rubbish collection etc which we believe is improving all the time. Great news.

Hi all,

can someone give me a hint as I am totally lost! My husband and I purchased a 1 bed flat in March 2oo8 at sierra. at the time we gave power of atorny to the a lawyer called Abbas and paid the lawyer's fee in full. it is now 7 months and we have even had an email from the lawyer. we sent the lawyer an email and asked him what is going on and he is asking us to send him the contract so that he can take it to the court to notorize the contract. is it routin process? I would have expected sharm el sheikh real estate to give the lawyer the contract and do the paper work. it seems a bit odd to me to send the only contract we have on hand back to sharm agin! if anyone gone passed this stages, can you tell me what is the corect process please. thanks/Betty

Hi Betty - you need 2 contracts that are signed on every page by yourselves and the developer. Once these are signed you send one to the Agent ( who in turn sends to developer ) and one to your lawyer. Once your lawyer has this he can then proceed with notarising in Cairo on your behalf through the poa you have given him. Once he has the signed contract the process can take anything really from 6 to 9 months.
Im sure if you send both to SRE they will forward one of them to Abbas. When I signed mine they forwarded one to Zeiad for me.
If you have one blank copy then either photocopy or ask SRE to email you another which you can print off.
The blank photocopies ( unsigned ) are acceptable ( which you print off and then sign before forwarding on ) but you cant photocopy a fully signed contract.
Hope this helps.
Alison x

Hi Betty

Alison is of course spot on. We in fact bought ours same time as you and I am going out next week and will collect our signed contracts from SSRE. We printed off two copies at home from the email signed every page (even the Sierra layout page and appt plan page) and sent them to SSRE who forwarded to the developer. Our copy has now been passed back by SSRE to Zeiad, our solicitor, for the official registering or whatever and he has returned it to SSRE for me to collect as I will be out there.

Whole process is a bit lengthy but seems to work out in the end!

Good luck and we look forward to meeting another neighbour in due course, Iain

Default Measurements

Hi there,

does anyone have actual measurements of the rooms for the 1 bed apartment?

I have been sent the basic sixes from the agent but that is just like "lounge 3x3" or something like that and doesnt tell me what wall space I have. I need this to work out what size furniture we want. Does anyone have a plan with actual measurements along the walls showing gaps for doors. i explained to the estate agent that just telling me 3 x3 or 3x4 is not good enough since I cannot put a sofa in front of a door if it doesnt fit!!!!

Anyway if anyone can help - or if anyone is out there shortly in the next couple of weeks, would they mind doing a quick measure?

We forgot the tape measure when we went!! Why the estate agent cannot get the developer to do this is beyond me!!

Thanks in advance.

Lou

Hi Lou

Are you 30 c1? I can take a look and do some measring for you- just let me know what you need. You could PM me if you like/ Also just to be clear can you confirm that C1 would be on the left at the top as you look at the building? Alison had some bluprints of appts but not sure I would 100% rely on those for internal measurements.

Iain
