Hooray they are digging our pool. Jeff, have you had any more contact with the developer regarding hand over - it looks like your windows are not in yet.

Ian yours is looking lovely and spacious, although I am quite shocked that they plan to hand it over in the state it is. That gap in the window is a disgrace and you cannot believe they leave it and wait for you to complain about it!

I can see what you mean about your area being a mess - why on earth dont they wait until the whole ring is ready and looking good and then get all the owners out there. It just seems crazy. I am shocked that they seem to have promised everyones to be ready for December (including ours) when they are never going to get them done (I emailed and they still say december but I would rather they were just honest - dont they realise for us its a £300 ish flight out there. I dont mind going out and snagging little bits and bobs but if windows etc are like the one you have shown, you are going to need a couple of trips just to do the snagging before even thinking about furniture. I intend to write to the estate agent today to tell them they best not hand mine over with gaps in windows and rendering not complete because I will not accept the keys.

On a positive note on flights, if anyone needs to go out early december, teletext had a week with accommodation for £189 for a week.

Thanks for posting the pics Ian, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel but some of their bodge jobs are shocking.

Your lounge and kitchen area looks like such a great space, its a shame the little things end up stressing you (although mess on the doorstep would seriously disgust me, dirty bloody pigs!)

Enjoy the sun!

Lou

Hi Iain thanls for the pics. Yours is certainly looking a lot better than when I saw it last month. I did try to warn you about the pressies!!! I dont think they have heard of the expression ' dont sh*ite on your own doorstep - or ours!!'

The window is a disgrace - maybe they thought you wouldnt notice??!! Once they odds and sods have been sorted had a good clean, loo flushed and a galloon of bleach down it along with the shower and it is furnished it will - promise you - look soooo different. Shame about Shams and the building work - if they didnt tell you when you booked then put in a complaint before you leave and get some compensation back to go towards the next flight.

When I was on my own in Aug and walked down to the beach I thought I would try and walk up the side by the hotel back onto the main road and I too got chucked out and had to walk back up the track towards the security guard who wouldnt leave me alone when I entered the road until I had a phone pic taken with him. He tried the same on exit but this time he wanted a kiss - yeah right - told him where to get off!

If Shams gets too much let me know and you are more than welcome to meet Clare with my key and use ours for the rest of your stay - just let me know xxx

LOL! Im back in Starbucks after my "snagging" session reading Lou and Alison.s remarks and it really cheered my up, but really, you are getting more worked up than me! it's very kind of you to sympathize so much, but really these things are sent to try us - I know I got a bit upset about the loo and getting chucked out of their cr***y hotel but really much happier today.

They never get flats in a state of complete readiness as I'm sure they like to have a few things pointed out to them before handover in fairness i could move in tomorrow if it was furnished, but the windows at the back need cementing in and the loo bleached etc. patio door locks are dodgy (like Alisons) and i think we all need to buy those bar things that block patio doors from opening, then they really will be locked.

The back of my place is a mess as they are building that zone now - buildings 71-78 which you can just see in one of the pics from my balcony. will take some more pics in a day or two and try to label them properly. Also still to measure wash basin height, and wall lengths as requested.

The zone I'm in is supposed to be ready in a month, so ther's a chance it will be Ok by feb when we plan to go. Pool needs cleaning and filling and all landscaping.

Lou is right about finishing each phase in turn but I guess that they have pressure from so many sides that they finish appts in a somewhat haphazard way.

I got the hard sell from the ssre guy about renting out our flat long term to which he got a short reply, I want it to stay habitable thank you. Clearly there is a market for long term letting.

I'll take a better look at your area Lou when I can, does seem to be overly optimistic talking DEC though they could conceivably get the appt ready but not the area I think.

Looking at other developments I think ours is going to be one of th better located and hopefully run.

Visited pete bar yesterday and met him and his daughter Holly who seems to run the place most of the time and should pick up my 50% off card later today = off to watch thr footy I think if Mostafa turns up this time (we were due to meet at 1:15 but now it's 4.

Well that's it for now, sunny day outside, so might spalsh out a EG£1 and nip back to the other building site for a quick dip in the ready mix.

Iain

Hi Iain - glad its not getting you down. I know we all try to go with the flow but poops p*ss me off!!! It will be worth it in the end. They too tried the hard sell on us for long term rental and basically no way. I have heard so many horror stories about apartments being rented out and owners not knowing hence not getting the money, rented out to a couple which turn out to be a dozen Egyptian workers. No thanks.

When you see Pete, Holly and Mohammed at St Georges tell them Alison, Paul and Amy said hi and we will be back over in 3 weeks to drink him out of lager and scotch!!

Also say hi to Mostafa when ou see him.

Enjoy the rest and just remember it is freezing cold here. They said at the weekend the wind chill factor in some parts of the country will feel like minus 10!!!

Hi Iain

I didn't realise that SRE were desperate to get long term lets when they do handovers, just out of interest what price are they offering per month ???

Totally depressed sat over here knowing that it will be Easter before we are out again and Alison hasn't cheered me up by today telling me about her Christmas Meal preperations, especially as I've just been informed my Christmas meal will be with the Mother-In-Law !!!!!

Enjoy the rest of your holiday safe in the knowledge you managed to scrape a point against Fulham today.

Hi Darren they told me 2 bedrooms apartment £ 475 (4,500 LE) and for 3 bedrooms apartment £ 510 (5,000 LE) without elec and water. Short term rent is considered to be accounted per night starting from 200 LE to 250 LE, (£ 42 (400 LE) during high season like New Year, Christmas, fiestas including water and electricity.)
They take 15% comm out of this as well.

Sorry to leave you with the ma in law but Im sure you will have a great time entertaining her. Looking foward to Xmas day dinner at Great Brit Bar. I have asked Clare to ind out from Tony if he will have bread sauce or I will be bringing my own. Know they have Ocean Spray cranberry sauce as saw that in Metro last month! I have to have a proper Xmas day din dins. They can get crackers out there so need to check with Easyjet whether or not I can pack some in our hold luggage.

Well your daily letter from Sharm.

There is also a wind chill factor here when you get out of the pool it must drop the temp from 28 to 24 at least!

will give wishes etc to Pete Holly etc and tell then to stock uo, enjoying my stella at £1 a pint after discount.

Enjoyed getting our point off Fulham in St Georges especially as a particularly annoying trio of Man u supporters kept cheering when lpool and Chelsea missed their goals expecting to catch up by two points later, well of course I just had to pop back in after the man u game and ask how they got on - you have to be careful what you wish for!

saw something last night that I'd not seen before , an old pick up truck coming along the road spewing clouds of some, I assume the engine had expired but the realised they had a huge smoke machine on the back with smoked us all out for 5 mins. gues it was anti mossie or something bt seemed a bit futile.

Met a Mr Snow from our zone and he seemed a nice guy coming back second half feb. Also met Alison's neightbour who has a whole building but he wasn't a happy bunny at all, I won't go into details here but i guess everybody views different issues in their own way.

I snagged and had a good old moan about the loos etc and also the floor tiling in that the "grout"is concrete and varies in colour and texture from black to light colour/ was told it goes light when it dries but not so sure. Tiling, plastering and painting generally good. All kinds of rubbish buldozed against the back wall as they are building behind uus and I think thay have damaged some of the waste pipes.

Going back tomorror when can hopefully get handover sorted and get Mostafa on the job.

He is in good form but a bit stressed as there is a 10-15 day holiday coming uo staring 5th Dec I think.

he also swears he wont do another job with all the aircon at the back, think he found that a lot of extra work , shame as I thought that was a good idea but there you go.

well I'll wander up the road and watch West Ham and get some more discount - after all the more I drink the more I save...

Hi Iain - Lynn and Andy Snow are a lovely couple and we exchanged drinks around each others apartments. They did tell me they would be back in Nov and hopefully their kitchen etc will have been replaced. If you see them again please pass on my best regads and tell them I have lost their email so great if you could get it for me.

I met the other couple back in Aug and cant remember their names but I know they are living up the road in Nabq and get around on a scooter. Might have been Adam I think.
Glad the council are smoking the mossies on the main road. Enjoy your 10le Stellas as defo helps on the pocket. Just look at it as BOGOF but dont get too drunk as its a long stagger back to Shams!!!
