Yet again fantastic Stew and thanks for sharing xx

I have had my weekly report from Clare who visits my apartment once a week to check on it and normally she goes on a Monday but went Sunday this week. Yet again she was challenged by security - she said hadnt seen these ones before as it was a different day she went. She said just because someone had a key they still checked her out and had nothing but praise for them which is great news. She will be passing on this praise to the new security manager. So seems that they are not letting anyone into the apartments without checking they are genuine and have the owners permission.

Well went back today to see appt after the small points i wanted put right had been sorted. What a waste of time. The window that had a gaping hole alongside had been fillled ( would have taken a half competent DIY person 10 mins). Nothing else had happened at all.

Toilet hadn't been touched, shower still full of sand windows outside still unfilled etc.

Blew a fuse with them telling them I could do it all in 4 hours max but that they couln't be bothered to even send a competent person to ch4ck the work.

so it's back tomorrow and another wasted few hours no doubt.

My mood is murderous.

My comments have been made to the site office - i mention all this as whilst it is a direct matter between me and the developers/agents, others need to be aware what to expect and to make sure that they try to tie down the arrangements. trying to have a holiday whilst doing this would be very difficult.

I had planned to do this on a four day visit but that would have been a mistake as it always takes longer than you think.

Iain - we were admiring how you could remain so calm and philosophical about the handover but it seems you are now experiencing exactly the kind of problems we encountered! They have a very frustrating way of agreeing to do everything you ask (and even write long lists) but when you go back to get everything ticked off it's not been done. We ended up buying our own set of cleaning equipment and spent two days of our holiday trying to clean the grouting and gunge but when we left for the UK there were stilll lots of jobs to be finished and we doubt very much if they've been done. Very annoying when we had no option other than paying the handover fees etc because we wanted to sort the furniture package before we left as our son is going over next week.

Mind you if you'd seen the state of your apartment when we were there last week your photos show a remarkable improvement, there was debris everywhere, parts of the floors were up and the shower trays were full of rubble etc.

We also made our feelings known to the developers and although we'd tried to get everything sorted during the first two days of the holiday so that Mostafa could get started it just didn't happen and we left Egypt feeling very uncertain.

Don't want to sound pessimistic but feel it's best to be realistic too and at the moment don't think things are progressing quite as we'd hoped (or been assured they would by the developers). We know it's early days but considering we were told months ago that the whole zone would be finished by November and booked flights etc on the strentgh of their promises it's very disappointing to see the state it's in at the moment.

Hope they get their fingers out for tomorrow it'll probably depend on who is is applying pressure on that day! By the way we also had nice little piles of cr**p on our stairs and also the roof garden is being used as one big toilet!!

Urrghhh this is making me sick, the more I hear the worse I feel about the whole thing.

Heads will roll if I go over and anyone has left **** anywhere, I will rub their bloody face in it!!! I have now emailed the agent and told him exactly what I expect, I have asked him to get on to the developer to relay what is happening with regards to filthy workers. I understand they have to go somewhere but crikey not on peoples property.

Iain, you are doing well to keep as calm as you have been. What the hell are they thinking, all they are going to do is pee all their purchasers off. Surely the handing over of keys should be exciting and happy not full and anguish and stress.

ARGHHHHHHH

Hi Iain, Robin and Jane. I have on a couple of occasions mentioned the crap and they should have put a stop to it. As you are all aware I sent a email to the developer / directors with my comments / advise / observations and had the reply from them. If the items have not been addressed when we are out in 3 weeks then watch this space. I will print off their email response and take it with me.
By the sounds of it on handover I think we have been one of the lucky few with hardly any problems. I got the workers to clean bath, loo, basin, sweep and mop the floors ( gave them 20le each for 2 of them ) and Mostafa done the rest.
Apart from what I would class as a couple of major issues when we stayed in it last month we havent had too many problems just really teething probs what Paul said we should expect from a new build - eg bathroom door locking tight shut, blocked pipes causing flooding ( Paul says when they do new builds of say 100 it will happen to someone ) just seems it kept happening to us but still managed to keep calm. However they have promised us that all drains will be covered and lighting will be in place around our zone for Dec so will see.

We do have patience but I can understand when they start wearing thin. In Aug it drove me up the wall when the sat tv kept going off and had to keep knocking on the engineers door to come out yet again. I was so selfish one day that I woke him up at 5pm!!!

Looking forward ( I hope!!! ) to next instalment Iain. BTW any guesstimate what size shirt Mostafa is??? S/M or L?? I was thinking medium Next brand??

If you see him again Iain can you drop it into the conversation ( dont ask me how ) and his waist and inside leg!! Hope he doesnt read this forum!! xxxx

Too right Lou - also I think we have one of the most friendly forums for a development. Everyone helps each other and we all seem to click - and have the same sense of humour!! Darrens differs slightly though lol and of course Iain did have a great one but dont know now!! Im sure he will be fine at the next meet up with a few Stellas down him - all back to yours in June Iain after the pool party and then we will show them Egyptians how to really christen the loo!!!

hi queenie - salamalekum

hope you got my message about the security grills, your posts often make me laugh, sure your not egyptian e.g. going on the buses, sorting things out, getting your apartment cleaned for 20 le resourseful woman or what! there was something you said about the pipes and funnily enough i had been thinking, and i know your not in hurghada, but what is in place for all the utilities such as water and electricity, i dont know where to look at see what the egyptian government has done to up the ante so everyone has water and electricity et al?? how does it all work anybody.
