That will be fab xx

Just to let you know that Clare and Mohammed done my weekly check and although nothing really to report, Mohammed wanted to check the outside ( always checks inside windows / patio doors ) and found with very little force he could gain access to bedroom patio doors and front room window. Although Clare didnt want to alarm me as she said security is very good I decided to take action and asked Clare to get Mohammed to put locks in the middle partition of the windows. I am on the ground floor so am trying to secure as much as I can. The locks on the patio doors and windows are really pants so I will be speaking to Tarek about reimbursement for the extra security measures I have had to take and strongly recommend any else on ground floor taking the same measures - and having grilles made and fitted to back bathroom and kitchen windows.

Yes Alison the window locks are all but useless. Tarek from SSRE had a supply of window locks that were brought from UK and cost just over £10 each (without fitting) they effectively lock the two parts of the window together so that thay cant move, so they would be much better. Also the patio door and windows can effectively be lifted out of their rails I think, with a bit of effort. I plan to have these locks fitted or similar ones, who pays is another matter.

They did say that the window company was being called back to attend to the windows but at best they just have catches not locks.

One could also fit a bar to stop the windows being slid open when not in use.

I am still considering grilles on the small back window, though frankly I reckon you could rip them off with a crowbar, when you consider the structure underneath is just single brickwork (Or it could be that they go into the reinforced concrete pillars I'm not sure.

I've asked Mostafa to look into the lock issue but heard nothing from him yet.

Iain

Hi all, haven't been on the blog for a while, glad to see lots of things are going on...

if anyone visiting could give me an update on the progress of apartment 69c it would be very much appreciated.

I am also looking for a good trustworthy English speaking lawyer to finalize a few things on my contracts, i did try a chap called zeaid who was recommended to me but he does not respond very well and he asked me to give him power of attorney...is this a normal request?

Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig

As far as i'm aware you have to give the power of attorney to an Egyptian lawyer.

I have used Ziead and must say im very pleased with him, also he has now done quite a few handovers on Sierra so by the time it comes to my handover I would imagine that everything will be spot on.

Egyptian lawyers are not the fastest at replying and from what i've heard they are all as bad as each other.

Hi Zeiad is also our lawyer. Are you using his new email addie. Also the lawyers dont tend to respond if they have no news. Once you have given POA they can they proceed with registration which takes 6 to 9 months.
I am over a week Tuesday so will try and take some more pics and vids - did you see my last ones which I took in October of your zone?? - if not look a few pages back.

There you go http://www.propertycommunity.com/for...il-change.html it ay be the one you are using.

Ref POA we along with our children that are on the contract signed every single page of the contract including pages with plans. The developer then signed both copies and kept one and the other then was given to Zeiad to do his bit in the courts. Once registered he will give you the contract back. This takes a while. We gave him ours in July and still not heard anything but others on Sierra have had theirs registered with no problems.

Take it you have already got the POA for him?? We went to El Tor to get ours but others got it done in the UK.
