Gamsha bay is going to be nice - DAMAC works well, and Sahl Hasheesh is well marketed part of Hurghada - have a look on the map.

Did you invest anywhere yourself? Or maybe you are waiting for Gamsha Bay to be released?

Egyptians in Hurghada are no different to other parts of the Red Sea Coast, mainyly because they almost all are not from Hurghada. Workers travel from all over Egypt and other nearby countries to work in all of the Red Sea resorts (which includes Sahl Hasheesh and Marsa Alam) so I do not see how they can be any different.

Hi Cleopatra I would be fascinated to know which parts of Hurghada you have been visiting! What you describe is most definately NOT my experience nor that of my wife and we have been many times. As for beggars, plenty of those in Luxor but in Hurghada most of it is good natured touting for business; nothing wrong with that. Tell them to go away firmly and they generally do.

Well, they are very different :-)
Begging is the biggest thing in Hurghada... When in some parts of Egypt does not exist at all...
In Hurghada waiters in the restaurant don't find inapropriate to grab ass of good looking young lady or call her "Natasha" (let me know if I need to explain here), when in the Western desert, for example, waiter would be too shy even to look at her.
I could write a book about that, but actually, this discussion is probably not for this forum :-))))

Have a great day!

Cleopatra
Hi Cleopatra,

You say you love Egypt but to me it sounds like you dont. I disagree with what you say about Hurghada as compared to Marsa Alam. There is not any widespread begging that I have seen but instead friendly, humble people who would share their last meal with you. I have been to other muslim countries such as Tunisia, Turkey, Morocco and found the Egyptians to be one of the nicest.

As for ass grabbing again if that has happened to you then it is unfortunate but its not right that you suggest that its more likely to happen in Hurghada then anywhere else.

You forget to take onboard what Dave99 and Awahee123 have been trying to tell you that the labour in Hurghada comes from all over the country eg there may even be people from Marsa Alam.

As for your comment yesterday about people in Hurghada being rough, that again is a careless and wrong remark which may be your opinion but it is offensive.

I dont think you need to put people down inorder to try and sell something. In my opinion it may be best if you do write this book and leave selling to others!

Hi Cleopatra

There are lots of people on this forum who have vast knowledge of Egypt and particular Hurghada and i am sure i speak for them all by saying your comments are unwanted and unappreciated. You will not be doing yourself any favours by slagging off other areas just to push your development.

The forum has now attracted many members who have a sound knowledge of Egypt and can recognise when new members appear to have different experiences. This maybe because in the case of agents their visits have been confined to Developers viewing trips which may not be the same as personal travel to get a feel for the country and its people.

Lets talk about properties better :-)

Hi Cleopatra (like the name)

Are you a tourist or something else.

I am willing to accept your personal experience is factual, and therefore should carry as much weight as mine, on this matter.
I have seen some of the things that you have stated also, but I can only compare to Cairo and Luxor, which is why I doubt there is much different in Hurghada, except that maybe in specific locations or bars etc there may be a few exceptions.

Unfortunately my teenage daughter will not go back to Hurghada. When she was 13 a local shop keeper pinched her backside as we were walking down the road. Then a male worker at the Titanic hotel harassed her touching her leg and asking her to kiss him. This was both within a week. This I know happens all over the world but she will not go back. She loves Sharm.
Ooohhhh by the way she does get her stunning good looks from her mum!!

Hi Cleo and Happy New Year to you. Yes this was unfortunate but my daughter just refuses to go back. I was really interested in Regency Towers and she said she would not come on holiday with us again if I bought there. Maybe she was unlucky but you dont do that to a child. When she told me what he had just done I had to tell her not to tell her dad until we got back to the hotel because you can imagine what dad would have done trying to protect his daughter! She and her friend were just walking behind us when we were in Sakala looking for a nice restaurant.

This was very unfortunate as I honestly think this is rare in Egypt. Most Egyptians are very nice and very respectful to tourists. I am biased as am am Egyptian by birth but I guess there will always be exceptions and it is a shame when it has spoiled things for your daughter.
