Your visa will then be returned to you in your passport within about 7 working days. So it is really quick and easy.
Hope this helps.
Queenie can I ask you why are you getting visa for sharm as a visa is not required for sharm as it says on Egyptian consolate site.

Hi j4,

I think a visa is not required only if you decide to stay within Sharm,if you are wanting to travel further afield from Sharm you still require a visa..

Thanks for the info awahee123. just saw that you did not need one for sharm, but as you say if going out of sharm you would need one.

Thanks Jayne

Hi you need the multi entry visa in your passport tt then be able to go and get your power of attorney from the government building in El Tor. The passport office is down the road from here so I got me multi entry and residents visa 1st then went to get the power of attorney. See paragraph below.

C) Authenticating Sale / Usufruct Contract:
Prior to the point of authenticating Sale / Usufruct contract, purchasers are required to issue a power of attorney to their lawyer, in order to be able to act on their behalf in courts. Power of attorney, however, requires the purchaser "Principal" to obtain a multi entry visa from El Tur city, which is located not far from Sharm el Sheikh, and where all the governmental utilities for Sharm el Sheikh's area are located. After obtaining the power of attorney from the notary office, the lawyer is responsible for establishing the signature validity legal suit. This legal suit takes between 6-8 months before obtaining the final verdict from the court.

I know in Sharm you give power of attorney to a solicator and the drive to the govenment buildings is a track, how did you get on with the 99 years lease thing thats what put me off sharm and the prices are higher than hurghada. In hurghada the govenment building are alot nearier and no giving power of attorney to anyone. Where is your apartment is it lovely and worth the hasstle. ours is in hurghada I can't wait to get back there in April.

Hi it is Sierra in the up and coming resort of Nabq. There were others that I preferred but way over our budget. It is coming along nicely and my handover date is Feb next year. I dont think the whole resort will be finished until at least the end of 08 though.

The ride to El Tor is only about an hour and we got to see some really dramatic landscape, mountains and sea on the way.

From what I gather this is the only way to buy now in Sharm. The lease is for 99 years but if anything happens to hubby or I then my youngest daughter can carry the lease on. If we sell the apartment then the new owner gets a new 99 yr lease at a cost of 10,000LE - less than £1,000 and this is built into my contract.

To be honest we havent really had any hassle and it has been straight forward so far. Hopefully the apartment will be what we are hoping for. I have been out to see the site in October and went back out last month as well and they are progressing and I was pleased to see many workers on site even though they were using the whole area as an outside loo!!

There are some new off plan projects starting as little as under 15K.

Where have you bought? Glad that you are pleased with your place in the sun.

Question Long-term visas without buying a property?

Hello,

I am simply interested if there is a possiblity to stay
in Egypt more than tourists usually do without
buying a flat.

Is it possible to get a long-term visa just as a person
who wants to stay in Egypt for longer, at least several months?

What does it exactly look like - I would need to prolong my
visa every month in a given? Or is it just possible to get a
visa which is valid many months?

Thank you in advance for any help related to this issue.

ACP

Hi Single and Multiple Entry Visas are valid for 6 months and allow a maximum stay of 3 months in Egypt according to the Egyptian Consulate. The visa used to be an orange postage type stamp but it is now an oblong self adhesive silver one that you stick in an empty page of your passport. Cost is $15 each and can be purchased at the airport. Multi entry visas are £18 and you can apply by post. But other sites I have visited state 30 days so best to check.

So - is it possible to fly to Hurghada, buy this 1-month visa for 15$, and then prolong it? Is it a problem for a tourist to stay in Egypt for longer - even years - without buying a property? Egypt wants as many tourists as possible - that's obvious, so they certainly want people to stay for longer. But how to arrange it?

Just go to the passport office and apply for it, then after 6 months re-apply... they certainly dont want you going home... cant spend any money in the country that way
