What currency can you pay for the visa for hurghada?

We normally just bring cards with us and lift money from the airport in the country we land in but will we need to bring US Dollars for the visa, as I am assuming it will have to be paid for before we can get to a cash point?

Lyndsay,

My advice to you is to take GBP but then change them from the currency exchanges in Hurghada to EGP and just use the local currency while you are there to make things easier. THe problem is if you want to pay in GBP and there is no official exchange rate...the person applying the rate can use whatever rate they want...much easier to just pay in EGP.

Also forget about credit and debit cards.. this is a cash country. They are accepted in most hotels and some restaurants but dont rely on them. The cash machines sometimes dont work so I would recommend taking plenty of cash with you in the first place and just changing it when you need it.

Hi before I got my multi entry visa I used to get USD just to pay for the visas. The visa is $15. I used to find this to be the easiest and cheapest as works out about £7.50. Otherwise give them a tenner and you should get about 20le change. The visa is clearly marked with the price in USD in the bottom right hand corner and another reason why I pay in USD because if they try and over charge you you can point out the price to them.

I was there last month. The Visa states clearly right on its face 15 USD. I walked up to the man with 15 USD and he said they did not take US dollars. And it would cost me 10 GBP. I told him I have been here many times, and I know what it costs. I walked to they other man working elbow to elbow with him, and he gladly took my 15 USD and gave me my visa, while the first man gave me and the man giving me my visa a nasty glare. This is just another scam you need to watch for.

JEREMY

no you can not use the same one twice , but what about the £15 it only cost £10 don't let them try to rip you off again. $15.00 works out about £7 so if you can take dollors with you for this they have to except dollors.
