Default How many times have you been to Egypt before you decided to buy?

Hi all

There are now lots of us that are buying or considering buying in Egypt. I thought it would be interesting to find out how many times you have all been to Egypt BEFORE you bought ( not including the times you have been back and forth after you decided to buy ) and where in Egypt you have been.

I personally cant remember but it is certainly in the double figures. I have been to Sharm, Hurghada, Cairo and Luxor where I have stayed a few times and cruised the Nile. My husband choose Egypt out of a magazine and we thought we would go as a one off ( we never go back to the same place twice ) and then we were hooked. After many visits we then decided that Sharm was the place for us to buy.
Last year I was fortunate to go to Egypt 5 times but this year have only managed the one trip with another booked for October.

Just the once for me.

We actually decided to buy and move to Hurghada before ever stepping foot in the country.

Spent 2 months on the internet searching for property before going out at the end of January and buying three apartments.

Glad we went out to view before deciding what to buy as things look very different in the flesh.

Been out twice since and luckily enough really love the place.

Lyndsay

Our first holiday in Egypt was a special treat for my 40th birthday, almost 5 years ago now. We stayed in Nabq Bay, Sharm el Sheikh and fell in love with the place, during that holiday we stayed in Cairo at the Meridian Pyramids Hotel for two nights and took in the Pyramids, Lights show etc. Fantastic holiday Two years later we stayed in Hurghada at the Grand Resort Hotel and stayed for two nights in the Movenpick, Luxor to visit the valley's etc. For some reason, my husband and the kids seem to prefer Hurghada to Sharm, which is odd as they loved Sharm I think it is because in Hurghada you can walk out of your hotel and there is life, whereas in Nabq you had to taxi in to Naama Bay to find life outside the hotel as it was, at that time, a deserted road with nothing on it. We have spent holidays in several other resorts/countries, but Egypt just has this magical feeling, a feeling of being 'home'. Odd I know, maybe I was an Egyptian Princess in a previous life LOL We wouldn't choose to live in Egypt permanently, we actually plan to live in the Normandy region of France one day, but it is our absolute favourite holiday destination. We booked our holiday in El Gouna a year ago, without knowing we would be actually buying our own place 12 months down the line. Purely luck that we're buying at the Oasis Marina which is between El Gouna and Hurghada and means we will be able to visit the site etc. as we very nearly booked in Taba Heights Must have been an omen :p
