Hi Gordon & Sue,

Wow! You're brave buying without even having been to Egypt!

I've only been once and loved it, but I've always loved different countries and cultures. My wife lived there some years ago (things were different then!) and also loves it. The kids... well it was mainly them insisted we come back this year for our hols and the prospect of owning an apartment there is almost too much for them to contain!

We made an effort, even though we were based in a resort, and got invited to a local wedding, an evening with the locals at a cafe and a night out at a belly dancing club where we were the only non-Egyptians ( a heated debate took place between the owner and our host, but once in we were treated extremely well).

If you like the heat and are prepared to make the effort with the locals, I think you'll love it. Good luck with the purchase

Roger

Missed this thread at first but seen it now....

My name is Ray from Manchester 29 year old I.T contractor. Been married for 3 years no kids yet but one is on the way

Its my dad who got me into investing in property as I was no good at saving money in a bank account, it was too easy to spend & I always ended up spending it on something stupid or depreciating assets. Having missed the property boom here in the UK decided that an overseas emerging market is the place to invest.

Anyway together with my dad I now have 4 overseas properties, 2 in Dubai, 1 in Ajman & recently reserved one in the Coral Pearl, Hurghada. One of the properties in Dubai is built and rented; the other is due for completion end of 2009 as is the one in Ajman and Coral Pearl due in March 09. Looking to rent all of them out however, wish to use the Coral Pearl one as a regular place where I and the wife can relax a few times a year.

I'm really excited about Hurghada as it looks full of potential although I have never been to Egypt but research suggests it’s a nice place for holidays and lots of things to do and see.

I’ve been reading around on the various posts and it seems people are not entirely happy about the lack of information from the developers WWD regarding completion dates etc, this is a bit concerning although I haven’t got to that stage yet as only reserved a few days ago. I hope together whoever has bought in the Coral Pearl we can collectively put pressure on the developers when needed to get things resolved quickly and efficiently. With experience in the Dubai market it was not uncommon for development projects being delayed and not hitting targets...I suppose this is all part of buying off plan in emerging markets.

Regards
Ray

Cant complain about the money the market is very buoyant at the moment, been working flat out these few months and more of the same leading up to May….working 7 day weeks is a regular thing for me at present…but am a firm believer in work hard, play hard.
