Welcome to the forum Lou; if any of the Moderators can help you just say the word. It will be good to get updates on how things progress in Marsa. Do you plan to use your apartment just for holidays or will you spend more time there?

Hiya Peter, and all, Thanks for the kind welcome. Just looked at some other property forums and my god are they unfriendly - never even bothered to sign up!!

We will use as a holiday for a probably a good 10 years but then hope to spend a lot more time out there. I figure Marsa will have building works going on for at least the next ten years so hopefully by the time we get to appreciate it fully, it will all be ready by then!!

We tend to go to Egypt each year for a 2nd holiday for the diving (we are addicted to diving) so it will be really nice have a familiar place (that is ours) to stay.

We can only use it for six weeks each year for the first five years because we took up the rental guarantee. (I dont get any more holiday than that in a year anyway) and at the moment like to go further afield for some of my holidays too (costa rica and galapagos being my favourite so far), so Marsa looks like it will work for us.

I will keep you posted on all the developments and how its going.

Nice to meet y'all

Hi all,
Im John & fortunately,as she will be reading this, the husband of Sarah C who also posts on here.

We have bought a 2 bed apartment in DP1 as we have both fallen in love with Egypt & its people. We are not really looking to rent it out for the first couple of years as we want it to be our bolthole to recharge the batteries whenever we can.

We have two kids,a boy of 15 & a daughter of 10,& have travelled quite a lot around the States in recent years. We decided to try El Gouna after a reccomendation from my brother, who has been diving in the Red Sea for the past 8 years (his arms must be tired now . . .lol),and we loved it.Long term we would like to be Gounies & see DP as a stepping stone to our long term goal.

Love the feel of this forum as i can see a social community developing from it.

All the best.

John

Chose Marsa because I am a diver and wanted Elphinstone in my back yard!!

Also I know dolphins frequent the coast since ive been diving with them there just off shore - and before you ask, yes a dolphin would be enough to encourage me to buy my "place in the sun". I love the sleepy feel of marsa so for us its perfect (although I admit its not for all!).

We are going to take up the offer of the 5 year rental guarantee since this will help pay our mortgage, however we are not relying on the cash it will just be a bonus. We are purchasing so we have somewhere to go for a 2nd localish holiday each year and also so we can spend many months there in the winter in our old age.

Nice to meet everyone.

Lou

Hi All,

I am new to this site and new to Egypt. I am single with three grown up children still living at home.
I visited El Gouna in the summer with my daughters and fell in love with it. Returned home and spent a few months researching new developments in the Hurgharda area. I went back at the beginning of Feb and am purchasing a one bed apartment in Palma Resort - mid way between El Gouna and Hurghada. I was very fortunate in meeting a fellow englishman who lives in the completed first phase and he is sending me photos as the building progresses.
I plan to rent out to family + friends and spend as much time there as I can - although it wont be as often as I would like, until I retire, when the amount of annual leave one can take is restricted to five weeks pa. Hopefully some extra income from renting out will enable an earlier retirement that planned!!
There are so many developments along that stretch of the Red Sea - I have seen a couple of people on this thread who have purchased on the Oasis development which is very close to Palma Resort - it would be nice to meet up with some of you in the future.

Hi Zoe,

Welcome to the forum

My husband and I will be living in Oasis Resort full time and would be happy to meet with you. How close is Palma Resort to Oasis Resort?

All the best
