Default Single White Female

Ok then guys here goes, I'm originally a Northern Lass who speaks her mind....

I'm a single female who was brought up to be financially secure and not rely on anyone else to sort out my finances or "look after me".

I moved to the South East of England 10 years ago and now work in London. I got into the buy-to-let market about 5 years ago when I bought a flat, shortly followed by another. I sold one with the view to buying something slightly nicer but never found anything. I then started looking at the overseas property market as I came to the conclusion that the UK market for buy-to-lets was rather saturated. As I used to work in Greece as a holiday rep and fell in love with the lifestyle I thought about buying there but although I love holidays there I wouldn't want to live there due to the cold, quiet winters and the short holiday season so I decided to look at Nothern Cyprus. I soon realised I couldn't afford there so looked at Egypt as I have been to Hurghada, Sharm and in September went on a cruise down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan.

I have bought an apartment in Hurghada with a view to holidays and family using but if I get some rental from it then that is a bonus. Not sure I would live in Egypt as a single female so maybe I am a bit of an imposter, wanting to buy cheaply and maybe make some money so I can buy in Northern Cyprus to live when I retire (though 20 years away!)

I do know I don't want to retire in the UK and live 6 months of the year in the cold, dark climate not going out or seeing anyone from one day to the next so the idear of living in a warm climate with low utility bills, tennis courts, swimming, gym and a community spirit appeals more to me so I am trying to make this dream a reality.

Great forum by the way.

Noushkey (my cat's name actually)!!!

Hi
Paul here, I bought 3 bed apartment in Desert Pearl phase 1 back in April last year so have been execitedly waiting for almost a year now for completion!

Live in St Ives in cambridgeshire and Desert Pearl was my first overseas investment and i have since bought in Gulluk, Turkey as well. Egypt was bought on a bit of whim I have to say as I have not actually been to hurghada before and have only been to Sharm. I go down for the first time 21st march so am really excited to see all the places you guys on the forum have been talking about.

I have a 6 year old boy and have a girlfriend who has 2 girls of 8 and 6 so we are looking forward to some family holidays down there.

the main reason for buying was for rental purposes though and I am confident the future looks bright for Hurghada for this purpose. Anyway hope to meet up with some of you in the future on the Red Sea and if anyone can give advice on the best Ski place to buy I am on the look out!! Not Bulgaria though.

Thanks

Hi all
My name is Ismet, my wife Karen & I Bought unfinished ½ a villa in Mubarak 6 (825sqm) garden,in Nov after a visit to Egypt in Oct. We fell in love with it and we are planning to move there next year for good. My advantage is that I speak Arabic, we had a property in Istanbul that we bought few years ago so we can move there for good when the time is right, but the langue was our problem although I’m suppose to speak Turkish, as my father is Turkish, that confused people there as to why I can’t speak Turkish. I never lived there plus my mother was Lebanese.
Anyway we are going to Hurghada 29th Feb so we can start work on the house.
We are hopping that we will meet others like us who decided to get away from this horrible weather we have in Scotland.

Hi Izze, welcome to the forum, if you need anything this is the place to come. I hope you enjoy your new life in Egypt, i am sure the weather alone will be enough. I lived in Cyprus for 3 years and just knowing it was going to be sunny made such a diference to your outlook on life. it certainly makes life seem less stressfull.
