Great to have more new members. I'm sure you all know by now that everyone here is very friendly and happy to share any information that they have...good or bad!!!

Any problems finding your way around the forum, feel free to ask one of the mods - either myself or Alison.

I love travelling and wish I didnt have to work so I could go on holiday every month! (must keep doing the Euro millions!). My aim is to buy a 3 bed villa with pool abroad and let it pay for itself so that by the time I come to retire its paid for, I can then sell my house in the UK move abroad wiht my house money and live a happy life! Although that 3 bed villa with pool is some way off at present!

Visited Egypt in 2007 and loved it. Have since tried to get into studying Egyptology and plan to attend a University course next month. I found the site today when searching for Egypt property and so have lots of questions I will be sure to ask soon. Would like to buy a studio or 1 bed as I plan to go back to assit with my studies and really want to visit Luxor, Aswan etc so would rather try and get my own place than keep staying in hotels. Not sure if I can do it but will try!

Learning Spanish at present and doing a Skydive for The Prostate Cancer charity on Wednesday (17th Sep) so wish me luck!

Think thats about it for now. Looking forward to getting to know everyone - you seem like a pretty friendly bunch!

Take Care
Hi Shell - yes we are a friendly bunch on here. How did the Skydive go. I done one for cancer charity a few hears ago - 12,500 feet freefall and all I can say is never again!!!

Good luck with your search xx

Smile Salaam Ali Kum!!

Hi everyone,
I have just returned from a cruise down the Nile with my husband. It was a second honeymoon and it was absolutely out of this world. We came back and have decided to invest in a small apartment in Luxor and we are in the process of getting our finances sorted.
There are lots of nagging doubts in our heads like "are we doing the right thing" "are we mad" but to be honest after losing ove 90,000 pounds in the 80s Thatcherite recession, taking a risk with 21,000 seems a breeze.
I would love to keep in touch, or get to know people who perhaps plan on moving to Luxor.
At the moment I am a Social Worker and my husband is a librarian at the local University, we have two children 16 and 6 and plan to go and live in Luxor permanently once they have all flown the nest.
It is great to know that there is a forum out there where we can all off load our worries and its great to see there is also legal and financial advice.
If you are in Luxor already, planning to go there in the future or want to swap information and advice on Luxor please contact me through the forum mail box.
thanks for reading!!

Hi Kendra and Tony - welcome both of you, to the forum.

We've touched on the subject of buying in Luxor but as far as I'm aware, you're our first members to buy there, though I know that many have visited. I'm sure that we'd all like to know more about the apartment, the development, developer and prices etc. Perhaps we could start a new thread for Luxor....we'll ask the questions and you'll get to answer them all!!

Many members now live in Egypt, having either moved there over this last year or a few having lived there many years. We also have a sister forum that's geared towards expats rather than holiday makers/investors and you might like to have a look there too: http://www.expatforum.com/

If you've any problems finding your way around the forum feel free to ask either of the mods - myself and Alison (queenie40something). Great to have you on board

Best wishes
Linda
