Television in Egypt?

I have been looking at the slingbox. They now sell it at Tescos for just under £100 and it will pick up all the channels that you are signed up to in the UK including Virghin etc. Might be worth the cost long term.

Sounds great idea - anybody got one to work yet in Hurghada

I think you need to keep everything running at home for it to feed from which may not be such a good idea if you like to switch things off.

I have used a slingbox for a year now and although being 4 seconds behind live UK Sky TV, I can get every channel clearly, I can even set up the video recorder at home on it, Amazing really, I watch breakfast tv every morning on the patio, (bit depressing news at the moment though!)

Don't ask me any technical questions, all I can say is it is easy to set up and the helpline is excellent. you can view on the computor or through your TV with a patch lead, picture is'nt 100% but very viewable.

Why pay for tv when it's free, I paid £50 off e-bay from someone who never used it - bargain.

One forseeable problem is that if you leave someone at home they have to watch what you are tuned to.

Hi George - basically it is a box that you buy in UK that will work in Egypt on your pc /laptop to pick up the same subscriptions that you pay for in the UK...but you need to subscribe to begin with in the UK with monthly payments with either Sky, Virgin etc as far as I believe.
Maybe others can elaborate?? As dont know if I am getting the ' wrong end of the stick or not '???

Tv does not have to be on, but your Sky does, if that helps
