Hi all,

Really hacked off because we just heard that the villa we were buying has been taken off the market. In fact, apparently it was never for sale as the owner was just testing the market, unbeknown to everyone but himself!!! He even let us go as far as paying a deposit and he even made up an inventory of all the furniture he was leaving in the villa. He has wasted everyones time and money. We are lucky because we are dealing through Orascom and our deposit is safe but it could have been very different. Please take note!!!

I keep trying to tell myself the same thing. Orascom have found another property for us to look at. I believe they went round knocking on doors to say they had a buyer for their property if they wanted to sell. Just means we have to go back to El Gouna again and we are running out of time as we have to leave our Cairo apartment at the end of the month. Oh well, never a dull moment as they say!!

Oh Margaret, poor you. I had thought - as you did of course - that you were all but moved in. What a rat of a man the 'seller' is. Unbelievable! I'm with George, though I know you're trying to think that way too and it doesn't help at the moment. I always think that we one day look back and see just why whatever happened was for the best. Your new home is just waiting for you to discover it....any day now I hope.

Sorry about the boat dock Jeremy. We will go and see the other house they have found for us. It is probably a lot better and it does not need any renovation work (trying to convince myself)!!!
As I said, the main thing is that our deposit is safe for another day.
