After a few years the idea came up to buy an appartement in Hurghada because we love the town, the good weather and offcourse the sea. We love to dive the Red Sea an hope to do so many many years from now!!.

We still have to work for a few years but are dreaming off the idea to live for a longer period of time in a year in our appartment in Hurghada.

Cheers Manon en Leo
So Manon and Leo did you find your dream holiday home or not yet?

We went for a holiday last year to Old Sharm in Egypt and were knocked out by the place. It is now our dream to join some of the lucky people on the Forums who have bought their place in the sun in Egypt.
We are returning to Sharm again in June for a 2-week holiday and hope to find an apartment that suits our needs. If anyone can point out the best and safest way to go about this we would be most grateful. We will be staying at the Iberotel Palace from June 16th onwards if anyone else is going at the same time it would be great to meet have a pint and say hello.

Deb and Rob

Hi Deb n Rob, where in the East Mids are you from ? I'm originally from the Nottm / Derbyshire areas, but now spend my time between Dubai n Glasgow, soon to throw Hurghada into the mix.
Vix.

Hi Vix
We live in a town called Long Eaton it’s midway between Nottingham and Derby. I have seen a post somewhere on the forums from a couple who have bought an apartment at the Sierra resort in Nabq that also come from the East Midlands. Are you looking to buy a place in Hurghada? We decided on Sharm as its easy to get to from good old East Mids airport and they only seem to fly to Sharm not Hurghada. Went for our Holiday in Sharm last year and thought it was the best sea and beach place we had ever been.

Eyup me duck
Most of my family come from Ilkeston around the Flamstead road area near the church. What restrictions are there in Sharm about buying properties?

Haha in parts of the East Midlands the phrase "Me Duck" is used as a term of endearment. A bit like saying “my friend”, no one seems to know where it originates from or how far it extends but it certainly used in Nottinghamshire Derbyshire and parts of Leicestershire. Now I come to think of it it’s a strange thing to call someone really isn’t it a Duck, weird???????

By the way what does "Fill mish mish" mean? that always got a laugh when we were in Egypt (hope its not rude)

Hi George - Im sorry but I have to disagree. Sharm has a great social feel. There is a womens group that meets once a month socially. There are lots of dive centres who meet in the evenings socially as well. There are great complexes that are like villages where it is very easy to meet and socialise with the residents such as Delta Sharm. We never ever feel lonely in Sharm at all. There is always someone on hand to give advise and help.
