any more things i have not though about from those very experienced at living in egypt as i have said i have in the past just walked away from the ants, but this is going to be my place, cant do it!

If you're worried about smelly loo brushes why not use those disposable 1s? Can't think who makes them but you use and flush!!!!

mmm good question, can't say I've actually ever looked for one whilst over there LOL ...... I'm sure they must sell them though. At home, I use one of those washing-up brushes for my loo. A good squirt around with Domestos zero and a whip round with the washing-up brush, keeps those nasty germs and bugs at bay and leaves a sparkling white bowl ... May be worth you considering as it's smaller and easier to pop in a case or hold-all.

As Georgina said - you'll find them over there! They'll be much cheaper too. If I was renting out my place I'd want to put a new brush in at least once a month. I hate the things! I'm a bleach and boiling water person myself. I only use the brush once the bowls clean!!!

Hi,
I have to say, I have never smelt a loo brush, I always clean it after use, although in some public toilets they have been disgusting. I will buy mine there. And like you Linda I use bleach.

That sounds like a REALLY GOOD IDEA, wonder if the womens group in Hurghada have started on one. I bet Cairo/ Alex have somthing like that available, will investigate. We intend to put one together for the apartment, to include info on using local products/facilities/ buses/beaches, useful phrases, prices etc (it's not like I've got anything else to do!!!!)I'd be happy to share info.
Thanks for ALL the responses re loo brush. I know it was a daft question, but sometimes you just have to check.
5 days to go, woo hoo sunshine here I come.

It would be good to do a 'standard' local guide and then personalise it for individual apartments, maybe then start a new thread!! eg, 'Handy hints for the uninitiated' (not sure about the spelling of unin...)!
