I don't know of any and would love to hear of one. There was an American lady called Wendy working at Steigenberger Hotel. They give good discount for owners. I was using a lady at the Sheraton but she has just left. Mr Lotfy in the marina is good but when he charged me LE1,000 the first time I refused to go back.

Wow Georgina that is more than what I pay in the UK!!! I had mine highlighted last year by a lady I know that lives in Sharm that used to be a hairdresser. When she comes back to the UK she stocks up on her peroxide etc. She only charged me £10 for highlights, cut, blow dry and straighten!! Big difference.

1.000 LE?????? What did you have done? A complete makeover??? I will try the Steigenberger. Definitely a business opportunity here. I wish I was a hairdresser!!!

Where is Mr Lofty? I might go and ask him how much for colour just for a laugh.

Margaret

Hi Alison,

That's a bargain. Maybe she would come over to Hurghada for a couple of days and do everybody's hair!!!!
I brought the tubes of colour with me but was a bit unsure about packing peroxide in my case as it only came in big bottles. I think I will bring it with me the next trip and train my hubby to do roots!!!

You can buy Wella and Schwarzkopf colours in Best Way supermarket and the pharmacy. Maybe I can book an appointment with your hubby when he is trained

Mr Lotfy is at the salon down the alley after the pharmacy in the marina I think. Back then, I was having low lights put in but the sun was bleaching them into highlights. I'd had a bad experience with a Russian girl in Hurghada who had spent hours doing the low lights then put some colour on the roots which I didn't understand. The colour came out black and it looked like I was wearing a black hair band. Mr Lotfy coloured the whole lot then put highlights ontop. It looked stunning for about two weeks then the sun turned it into one big yellow mass. He said I had to go back in five days for treatment but wanted to charge me even more for the treatment.

In the 5* hotels I pay around LE350 for roots, trim and blowdry.

Would it be worth a trip back to Cairo every now and then? You could book an appointment with your hairdresser there and get some shopping done at the same time. No doubt that's already occurred to you though.

Thanks guys,

I will be going to Cairo around once a month and there is an Australian/Egyptian lady who could do it but it would be good to find someone here. Don't really want to waste good shopping time sitting in a hairdresser if I can help it!!!

I brought my own Koleston colours with me and wish I had brought the peroxide now. Next time!!! I will try the Steigenberger and the Sheraton. I just need someone who speaks good English so they understand the mixture of colours. Don't want to have orange hair!! I know what you mean about the sun on your hair here. It wrecks the colour, but I have brought special colour shampoo this time (on advice of hairdresser in UK) which does seem to help with the sun thing.

The problems we girlies have!!!!!

Thanks again,
Margaret

Hi Linda,
We got to Hurghada eventually!! We only found out from the radio, when we got up at 5am to go to the airport from the hotel we stayed in, that our flights had been cancelled!! Wayne said should we just go home, I said no I want to go to the airport. I just couldn't believe it!! Wayne was interviewed at the airport by a camera crew, plus interviewed on local radio and news papers. Anyway we qued for a couple of hours for alternative flights, then they told everyone wanting to go to Egypt, that they may aswell go home as there is no flights. We then got on the phone to our son in law, whom found flights for us on the internet and also got flights for Rod & Ann whom we met at Gatwick. We got a lift with Rod & Ann to Heathrow airport. Then got a flight to Cairo and onto Hurghada. It was a long day traveling and waiting about, we finally got to Hurghada at about 6am Saturday morning. We were desperate for some sleep!!! We did pay over the top, but I just had to go!! Coming back from Hurghada was a real nightmare!! Because we didn't have our flight details on paper they didn't want to let us into the airport!! Lucky for us a bloke, that was some sort of rep for a coach load of people came to our rescue, he took our passports into the departure airport and came back and told them to let us through!! He was Egyptian. The other guys that wouldn't let us through told us to give him a tip, he wouldn't take it. I was so stressed that they wouldn't let us through and I can't thank that guy enough!! Because we didn't have tickets we got the same problems in Cairo airport along with Rod & Ann. I was so stressed on the way home, that I said to Wayne I will not be going to Hurghada via Cairo again or vice versa!!! Anyway besides all the probs I was happy we went and our apartment is lovely!! The weather was really hot!! But we didn't get a chance to enjoy the sun and pool, as we were too busy with our apartment. However we did get to meet people in the winking frog and went out with Lyndsay & Glenn a couple of times. Had a couple of nights where I got a bit merry!!!

Dawn -x-
