They have a gym at the Movenpick Resort & Spa in El Gouna. It's open all day and night, but I don't know how much it costs for non-residence. It's free for guests though

Hi Dawn, Sorry to hear about your nightmare journey, particularly being the first time for you! Frankly, I think I'd have gone home and cried for a week. Still, sounds like it worked out well in the end

Wayne was interviewed at the airport by a camera crew, plus interviewed on local radio and news papers. Anyway we qued for a couple of hours for alternative flights, then they told everyone wanting to go to Egypt, that they may aswell go home as there is no flights. We then got on the phone to our son in law, whom found flights for us on the internet and also got flights for Rod & Ann whom we met at Gatwick. We got a lift with Rod & Ann to Heathrow airport. Then got a flight to Cairo and onto Hurghada. It was a long day traveling and waiting about, we finally got to Hurghada at about 6am Saturday morning. We were desperate for some sleep!!! We did pay over the top, but I just had to go!! Coming back from Hurghada was a real nightmare!! Because we didn't have our flight details on paper they didn't want to let us into the airport!! Lucky for us a bloke, that was some sort of rep for a coach load of people came to our rescue, he took our passports into the departure airport and came back and told them to let us through!! He was Egyptian. The other guys that wouldn't let us through told us to give him a tip, he wouldn't take it. I was so stressed that they wouldn't let us through and I can't thank that guy enough!! Because we didn't have tickets we got the same problems in Cairo airport along with Rod & Ann. I was so stressed on the way home, that I said to Wayne I will not be going to Hurghada via Cairo again or vice versa!!! Anyway besides all the probs I was happy we went and our apartment is lovely!! The weather was really hot!! But we didn't get a chance to enjoy the sun and pool, as we were too busy with our apartment. However we did get to meet people in the winking frog and went out with Lyndsay & Glenn a couple of times. Had a couple of nights where I got a bit merry!!!

Hi,
I think the gym Danny is talking about is the one we went to,on the other side of the road.Think its called Bovary Health Club(?)We only went for a massage,so not sure how much they charge for the gym.Shouldn't think it would be too much though. The massage prices are very reasonable and you get to lounge around on a lovely, although small, beach where you can order drinks and snacks brought right to your sun lounger!
Open 9am until 9pm.You can just call in for a price list.
Jules.
Or phone number is.... 065-3440188/065-3440169
Hope this helps!!

I must say for our first trip to Hurghada via Cairo its frightening, when you dont know where you are going from landing to getting on the domestic flight! Yer there is people that want to help you, but for a fee! lol. Plus they picked on us at Cairo airport, they opened our case and stated taking out my shampoo, conditioner and deodrant, saying Im not allowed to have it because they were 500ml each. I said you must be joking its not in our hand luggage!! I then said your winding me up and you cant do that!! In the end they put it back. By then I just thought, I cannot believe this, what else is going to happen!! Not good for first time over!! Well at least I no what to expect next time!! lol Thats why I think it would be so good to learn arabic!! LOl. Once I learn that will shock them. Ha Ha. Well at least I think we have learnt some think lol.

Dawn,
My sister in law had the same problem coming over but now she knows what to do she said it's no problem.

You should have hired a car between you to drive to Heathrow at a fraction of the cost!!!

It's just your luck who you get looking through your luggage in Cairo. They know exactly what you are allowed. They are just looking for baksheesh. A good tip is to put all ladies underwear or pork products on the top of everything in your case and they won't touch it. More so the ladies underwear!!!!!

cheers,
Margaret

Thats a good idea, thank you. It was ok getting from gatwick to heathrow, because we met Rod and Ann (pentax man) at gatwick, they were booked on the same flight as us, so my son in law was able to book us all another flight. So Rod and Ann was able to to transfer their car parking from Gatwick to Heathrow and gave us a lift there and back. We can't thank them enough!!!

cheers Dawn

Hi Suzi, I was very near to tears, and i was so happy when we got on the plane to the uk. The next day I did cry, but I couldn't work out why I was crying. To be honest I have only just realised why, it was all the stress on the way home. But I was glad we went, cos I had looked forward to going for so long. hopefully it will be much better when we go out again in December, plus we have a direct flight.

cheers Dawn

Hi Alison,
Yes it was definately scary!! I just read your link, we got off lightly compared to them!! The Egyptian people seem to have a problem with E-Tickets, but we flew Air-Egypt and they were really nice on the way over from uk. The nicest person through all the check points in the Airport on the way back was the lady on the desk whom checks your passports at Cairo and you had to fill in another card, like the one on the plane over, she actually smiled and was very pleasant.
