Hey Pentaxman, Where are you? You haven't been on here since our trip to Hurghada. Hope you are both well. Speak soon.

Default Anyone else got pooches??

Hi all

I got my renewal insurance for my dog the other day and was horrifed to see that is was more than double what I pay fully comp for my car insurance!!

Nearly £500 a year which is a joke - he is a 7 yr old staffie but has no pre existing medical conditions and we have never made a claim. When I 1st took this policy out with Marks and Spencers they were the cheapest and gave the best cover - no excess and covered accidental damage at just £15 a month. Now there is an excess and the cover is less.

Think it is time to shop around again. Anyone else noticed theirs have gone up drastically.

I have just insured my car here in Egypt for the year and that cost me £450.00, I thought that was expensive compared to what I paid in England.

I have horses and sadly I lost 1 in June, the other 3 are still insured with this company and yet I'm still trying to get what's owed to me with this insurance company? My horse vet has said they were 1 of the best when we signed up years ago BUT now he's told us GET away from them. Try NFU or South Eastern I think it is. Don't go for a certain number 1 supermarket cos my dog vet had really warned me off them. If you want to know the best ask your vet nurses, they KNOW everything.

Hi thanks CMChris - I am an Insurance Underwriter and thought I got the best for my Tyson but now will be researching again. Did you also go with M n S?

Nope, the horses are with PetPlan but they were bought out a few years ago by another insurance company. We went with them originally because of their excellent reputation and if you phoned up you spoke to a 'horsey' person who understood what you were talking about. Seems now that you can't have a seriously ill horse humanely destroyed by your own vet that has been 'looking' after you for years without trying to speak to a vet somewhere in the country who may or may not be on the end of 1 of the many phone numbers you are given to gain 'permission' to do so. When this debacle is over I'll be taking the insurance to another company that is horse friendly and understands the necessity for speed in certain cases.
