Not sure if this has already been posted but there is a rule from Hurghada airport that if you are a resident and been here more than 28 days you must fly out of Egypt on a scheduled flight only. If you are on an annual tourist visa then I believe it is after 3 months you must leave on a scheduled service. Now that Astraeus and GB airways has stopped that means either scheduled via Europe from Hurghada or Egypt Air or BA from Cairo back to the UK. I don't think this rule applies to Sharm. And baksheesh doesn't work to get out on the charter flight as my friend tried

Hi Real,

We were told it was a 4 hour transfer, but the reality is very different if you travel in a convoy (as you are supposed to). By the time we had waited for the convoy to form, stopped several times on route and dropped people off, it was more like 8 hours from airport to hotel

Yep. This was the same for us when we went from Hurghada to Luxor then back again.
Very time consuming sitting on a coach. Especially when your 34 of 50!

We visited Luxor whilst staying in Hurghada back in 2006 and it took approximately 4 hours on a coach, I guess you were very unfortunate!

We travelled from Sharm el Sheikh to Cairo on a coach 5 years ago and that took 8 hours.

I'm very very tempted by this. It would be cheaper than paying excess baggage for our move.

Thanks for that

Lyndsay
